A pair of a team and player options for the Thunder were picked up today. Mike Muscala exercised his $2.3M player option, Muscala made his his return to the Thunder next season official. The Thunder also picked up Hamidou Diallo’s $1.6M team option. Diallo will return to the Thunder for his third season.

Neither decision is particularly surprising. Muscala would have a hard time finding more guaranteed money next season in the open market. Financially, it made sense for Mike to stay in Oklahoma City.

Presti also took the decision to pick up Hamidou’s option. Diallo’s option is relatively cheap for a player that the franchise seems to be really high on. It is clear that the Thunder love his potential and the progression he has made in his first two seasons.

Muscala averaged 4.8 PPG on 37.8% shooting from three in 47 games last season. He is a respectable backup stretch big. Muscala is a solid third string center for the Thunder.

Diallo averaged 6.9 PPG on 44.6% shooting in 46 games. At the beginning of the season, it looked like Diallo was making a serious run at being the seventh/eight man off the bench. However, injuries derailed his momentum and he could not reach that level again last season.
