Thunder vs Timberwolves preview and gamethread: OKC gets first look at Minnesota, sans Thibodeau

New, comments

Can the Thunder avenge their December loss to the T-Wolves?

NBA: Minnesota Timberwolves at Oklahoma City Thunder Alonzo Adams-USA TODAY Sports

Game: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Minnesota Timberwolves

Time: 7PM CST

Location: Chesapeake Energy Arena, OKC

Broadcast: FSOK, NBATV

Line: OKC -8

Counterpart: Canis Hoopus

The Minnesota Timberwolves will take the court tonight for the first time since firing Team President/Coach Tom Thibodeau. Thibodeau’s firing came after a blowout win against a very short-handed version of the Lakers. Minnesota has won two straight but they are only 3-7 in their last 10 road games. However, one of those three wins came against the Thunder, when OKC couldn’t slow down Andrew Wiggins late.

The last time these two teams met, the Thunder gave up 10 second half 3-pointers and sent Minnesota to the free throw line 27 times. These numbers are a recipe for disaster if OKC can’t get them in check. Karl-Anthony Towns posits a strong foe for Steven Adams in the post where OKC will certainly be challenged for much-needed rebounds.

The Thunder will be looking to rebound after a disastrous home stand against a shorthanded and struggling Wizards team. Can they regain their footing tonight?

Injury Updates:

Derrick Rose and Robert Covington are listed as out tonight, and Dennis Schroder is a game time decision:
