Dawson: Brewer’s genes make him the perfect fit

Brett Dawson takes a look into Corey Brewer’s background.

NBA: Sacramento Kings at Oklahoma City Thunder Mark D. Smith-USA TODAY Sports

According to Glenda Brewer, mother of Thunder wing Corey Brewer, her family had one of the tallest men ever, 8-foot-9 John William Rogan, in their lineage. So it makes sense that her son received NBA-caliber height.

But what about his constantly beaming smile and humor? That came from his father. Ellis Brewer died in 2012 after a battle with type-2 diabetes, but he lives on through Corey’s eccentric and contagious personality.

Brewer has been a perfect addition to an OKC team that was struggling to find itself following the injury of Andre Roberson. When asked about the newest member of the Thunder, Carmelo Anthony hit the nail on the head.

In Brett Dawson’s most recent piece, he touches on Brewer’s family life, hometown, and his time with the Lakers. I won’t give any spoilers, but it’ll only make you like Corey Brewer more.
