Westbrook believes in the Thunder

New, comments

“I believe in these guys more than anything in the world”

OKC’s season thus far has been quite the roller coaster. This isn’t breaking news. They’ve turned doubters into believers and then sent them right back to their initial state. It’s been chaos from the get-go, but that doesn’t mean Russell Westbrook has lost faith in his guys.

“Always got confidence,” Westbrook told Yahoo Sports’ Michael Lee. ““Never lose confidence in my teammates and myself. It’s ups and downs during the season, and I believe in these guys more than anything in the world.”

This comes at a time where the Thunder are really looking to come together as a team. Missing Andre Roberson is forcing everyone to pick each other up, and comments like these are ideal at this point in the season.

Russ is someone who’s consistently seen as one of the tougher teammates to play with in the NBA. It’s been labeled as “Russ bashing,” but it undoubtedly improves the players around him. Just ask Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis, and Enes Kanter.

Paul George knows Russ’ tendencies and what he’s all about. “It’s every play. It’s every night. It’s the same Russ. He’s never tired. He’s bringing that high energy every night,” George told Yahoo Sports. “When you put three guys together that have been a certain way throughout their careers, you’ve got to make those adjustments and you’ve got to figure out how to be yourself, within the team. And I think that’s what we’ve had to overcome.”
