Game: Oklahoma City Thunder vs Minnesota Timberwolves
Time: 7PM CST
Location: Target Center, Minneapolis, MN
***
The Thunder are set to take on the Timberwolves tonight in Minnesota for the 2nd game of their pre-season. Following a loss to the Pistons where their offense dried up late, OKC will be looking to generate better looks (and make those shots) to look for their first win of the pre-season.
As for Minnesota, nothing of note has gone on with them this off-season, as far as I can tell. Unless I missed anything.
To the degree Billy Donovan allows Steven Adams to go against Karl-Anthony Towns, that will be the match-up to watch tonight. KAT is one of the more dynamic big men in the game, but Adams is a handful and will bring his league-leading toughness, according to NBA GMs (“Do I get a bonus?”).
Paul George, who missed the first game due to personal reasons, represents a second key matchup against Andrew Wiggins. George showed off his feathery touch and lightness of foot in the Blue-White scrimmage, so it will be great to see him on the court wearing a real jersey.
Lastly, the Thunder bench struggled against the Pistons on Wednesday. Of course this was primarily due to newcomer Dennis Schroder playing starters’ minutes, but OKC still needs to see better shot selection and consistency, especially from Jerami Grant and Ray Felton.
As we all know, it’s pre-season — pay attention to the little things, not the scoreboard!
