According to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, Oklahoma City is attempting to position themselves to sign Al Horford and Kevin Durant. Oklahoma City's been busy trying to find teams willing to take on the large salaries of Stache Bro Enes Kanter and the under performing Kyle Singler. It has also been mentioned the Thunder could waive Anthony Morrow by the July 15h deadline as well.
"The Oklahoma City Thunder have been making calls around the league looking to clear a massive amount of salary-cap space in a move rival executives believe is an effort to go after free agent Al Horford."
Horford does have a connection to Oklahoma City, as he played for Thunder Head Coach Billy Donovan at the University of Florida, winning two national championships. Incumbent OKC superstar Kevin Durant has also made known his strong desire to play alongside Horford.
While playing in all 82 games for the Atlanta Hawks last season, Horford averaged 15.2 points and 7.3 rebounds. klahoma City has advised rival teams they will know their off-season course of action in early July. OKC is set to meet wih Durant today, and one would expect they will gauge his interest concerning this move.
