It's the beginning of All-Star Weekend! The Thunder have been excluded from all Saturday Night events, as well as the Rising Stars Challenge. But you don't have to wait until Sunday to see any Thunder-related content. Russell Westbrook will be appearing at the Celebrity All-Star Game on Friday, as an assistant coach to Kevin Hart. Andre Drummond will be an assistant coach on that team as well. Coaching against them will be Drake, Steve Nash, and DeMar DeRozan.
Current WNBA players slated to play in the game are Elena Delle-Donne and Tammy Sutton-Brown. Former NBA players slated to appear include Tracy McGrady, Chauncey Billups, Rick Fox, and Muggsy Bogues. Milwaukee Bucks co-owner Marc Lasry will also be appearing in the game.
If you haven't seen the Celebrity All-Star game before, the entire thing is a huge free-for-all. The coaches are doing their best to ham it up the entire time, while the assistant coaches are basically there just to hang out. ESPN does long interviews between the action sometimes. Obviously, the level of basketball is bad, but it can be entertaining if you have a vested interest.
And WTLC will certainly have a vested interest....as we all must find out what outfit Westbrook will be wearing.
The game will air tonight at 6 PM Central on ESPN.
