Victor Oladipo injured in fall during Thunder vs Celtics win

New, comment

Victor Oladipo took a dangerous fall during the Thunder’s game vs the Celtics, but early prognosis is good.

Oklahoma City Thunder fans watching the game tonight witnessed Victor Oladipo taking a very nasty tumble to the hardwood after attempting to block Jonas Jerebko’s 3-point attempt from the corner late in the first quarter:

After Thunder medical officials rushed to Oladipo’s side, several tense minutes passed in a sold out Chesapeake Arena that was, according to one witness, “so silent you could have heard a pin drop”.

Victor Oladipo lies motionless while concerned teammates and fans wait silently as medical officials assess his condition after Oladipo hit the floor on the flat of his back from an estimated height of 6 to 7 feet.

After what felt like an eternity, Oladipo, who lay motionless, began moving his legs and eventually walked away under his own power a few minutes later. Obviously, Oladipo was unable to return to the game, a Thunder victory in which Semaj Christon stepped in for his fallen teammate and contributed invaluable minutes to help seal a Thunder comeback win.

Fortunately at this hour, there is good news to report:

I was able to verify the report at http://www.rotoworld.com/teams/injuries/nba/all/ and also learned that Victor’s current status is listed as Day-to-Day.

After the game Billy Donovan spoke about Oladipo’s fall:

"I felt the thump with my feet. The floor kind of shook," Thunder coach Billy Donovan said. "I couldn't tell if it was his back or if he landed on his head. My concern was if he was down there breathing. Any time a player is down like that you're worried because you just don't know."

Team leader Russell Westbrook, who spent the summer working out with Oladipo, added this:

"I was just hoping he was OK, man," Russell Westbrook said. "Just got to the bench and started praying for him. That's the first thing I did. His health, besides anything else, is more important. I'm happy he's all right and hopefully he'll be able to move forward for next game."

Everyone here at Welcome to Loud City sends Victor their best.
