The Thunder were not able to defy the lottery odds, but instead landed precisely where the ping pong balls said they would at #14. While speculation continues as to what Oklahoma City will do with their pick, here is the draft order at present:
- Minnesota Timberwolves
- Los Angeles Lakers
- Philadelphia 76ers
- New York Knicks
- Orlando Magic
- Sacramento Kings
- Denver Nuggets
- Detroit Pistons
- Charlotte Hornets
- Miami Heat
- Indiana Pacers
- Utah Jazz
- Phoenix Suns
- Oklahoma City Thunder
Losers
The Knicks fell out of the sweepstakes for the 3 best players in the dratt in Towns, Okafor, and Russell. While Mudiay or Winslow are no slouches, this is definitely a set back to the team going forward.
While they secured the 3rd pick, they could have had the received the Lakers pick had the pick dropped to 6 and the Heat pick had it dropped to number 11. For them to go home with only one pick, is definitely a disappointment.
3. Los Angeles Lakers
I don't like them, so even when they are one of the winners, they are still losers.
Winners
The Timberwolves will now have the chance to pair Andrew Wiggins with Karl-Anthony Towns. They have now completely rebounded from the Love trade and should barring injuries continue to trend upward in the NBA.
2. Los Angeles Lakers
They will now have their pick of players not named Towns. They also didn't lose their pick had it dropped to number 6.
3. The NBA and ESPN
The NBA and ESPN managed to turn a one minute lottery into a 30 minute TV show and I watched something that was about as entertaining as watching paint dry.
