Thunder beat writer Darnell Mayberry went on the "NBA A To Z" podcast with Sam Amick and Jeff Zillgitt to talk about the Oklahoma City Thunder, present and future. Here's an interesting bit on his thoughts about RW and KD playing together:
All those triple doubles and everything have been great, but it just hasn't been able to lead this team to victory. And I think, at this point, he's got to know that he really needs Kevin Durant by his side.
I think this helps these guys really understand that they need each other. You hear people out there that want to break them up, or have these conspiracy theories that one of them is going to go to LA, or one of them's going to go to DC, or just leave the Thunder. Kevin Durant saw two years ago that he couldn't do it without Russell Westbrook, and Russell Westbrook is seeing now that he can't do it without Kevin Durant.
You can check out the whole discussion of the Thunder starting at the 7:13 mark. Mayberry's statements on RW and KD can be heard at the 12:30 mark.
