The Oklahoma City Blue (27-22) defeated the Idaho Stampede (8-41), 91-81 on Friday night. In an all-night slug fest, the Blue held Idaho to the lowest point total for an opponent this season. This was a must-win for OKC, as the win moves them into a tie with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers for the final playoff spot, with one game to go. It sets up a scenario where the Blue need a win tonight in Erie and an RGV loss vs LA. The match up to watch in that game is Seth Curry vs Semaj Christon.
Josh Huestis: C
Josh Huestis was pretty quiet in his one. The rookie had only 6 points and 2 rebounds, and his defense wasn't great either. Fortunately, they got the win and the poor performance didn't cost them.
Semaj Christon: A+
Semaj Christon was fantastic, as he lead the Blue to pull away in the second half. Christon racked up 31 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. After the game, the standout point guard said that this summer he "wants to work on just being a better person, teammate, and point guard. Christon also said that "He loves being here."
Frank Gaines: B+
With Dwight Buycks being called up to the Lakers, a huge amount of scoring and perimeter shooting was lost. Frank Gaines helped soften the blow with 17 first half points. He finished with just 22 on the night, but provided a huge spark when nothing was going in for the Blue. Solid performance from Gaines.
Notable Opposing Players
Grant Jerrett
The tight shorts made a return to the 405 last night. The former Thunder player resumed his shot-chucking ways with 5 threes, far below his Thunder average of 19 per 36 minutes. Jerrett looked solid though, as he hauled in 12 rebounds to go with his 2 blocked shots.
Nick Wiggins
Yes, Nick Wiggins is the older brother of former 1st overall pick Andrew Wiggins. The undrafted rookie was absolutely horrendous last night, shooting 1-11 for 6 points.
