The Oklahoma City Thunder dropped a winnable game to the Utah Jazz, 94-89. The Thunder looked to be in control early, but turnovers, foul trouble, and bad shooting doomed them as they only managed 57 points in the final 3 quarters of play. The loss is their second in a row and drops them to 41-32 on the season.
The Thunder maintain a 2.5 game lead over the Pelicans, and the Thunder need to remain at least 1 game ahead of New Orleans due to the head-to-head tie breaker. The Thunder remain 3 games ahead of the Suns, who lost last night to the Trail Blazers. However, the two teams play tomorrow night on the 2nd night of a back-to-back, and Phoenix will be looking to make up ground as well as even up the regular season series.
The Trail Blazers won against the Nuggets, which gives them a healthy lead in the Northwest and OKC is unlikely to catch them now with only 9 games remaining. Dallas may still be within reach, but the loss tonight lowers OKC to 4 games behind the Mavericks with one head-to-head game remaining.
Also of note, the Warriors became the first team to reach 60 wins this season, currently atop the league with a record of 60-13.
