Mitch McGary Out 2-3 Weeks with Tibia Injury

New, comment

The rookie has only appeared in one game this year, and just recovered from a foot fracture.

This is literally the only NBA game photo of Mitch McGary I had. I'm glad it's here! Otherwise I'd have to use a stupid media day photo.

It's Mitch McGary's rookie season, and he's only managed to see time in one NBA game. Now, it seems as if Mitch won't play in his second match until well after the new year.

In disappointing news yesterday, the Oklahoma City Thunder announced that Mitch McGary would be missing 2-3 weeks of time with a peristosis, or inflammation, in his left Tibia. This comes after McGary officially missed the first 23 games of this season (along with the majority of the pre-season) to a foot injury. It also comes after McGary missed all but 8 games of his 2013-2014 college season with back surgery.

The news is scary and disappointing, to be sure. McGary managed to make it on the active roster Sunday night, leapfrogging Lance Thomas and Grant Jerrett for the last spot. Mitch even managed to get some garbage time minutes that showcased his hustle and muscle. But I've really never been able to watch this guy in more than spurts in any capacity other than the Orlando Summer League. So I really don't know how good Mitch McGary is, though I suspect he may have a longshot at cracking the rotation at some point upon his return.

Do you think Mitch still has a shot at getting minutes this season? Let us know!
