Phil Naessens Show: Thunder defeat Cavaliers, discussion on "I Can't Breathe"

Phil Naessens Show: discussing the Thunder's surge as well as Kevin Durant's quiet social commentary. Listen in!

This week on the Phil Naessens Show, we of course talk about the Thunder's critical win over the Cavaliers last night as well as preview tonight's potential trap game against the Timberwolves. We also get into the current social movement by some players, including Kevin Durant, regarding the issues surrounding Eric Garner.

At his blog, Phil writes:

While some are criticizing players like LeBron James, Derrick Rose and Kobe Bryant for donning "I Can't Breath" t-shirts I would like to applaud these young men for doing their part and accepting the mantle placed before them as role models.

They certainly didn't have to do it but I for one am happy they did.

I'd also like to applaud the OKC Thunders Kevin Durant.

These young people have done a marvelous service to their communities and have handled it in the right way; peacefully.

After what we've been witnessing in certain parts of our country, peaceful is a beautiful thing to witness.

Bringing attention to serious issues like police brutality in a peaceful way is awfully hard to ignore especially when the ones making the statement are the biggest stars in the NBA.

Sure beats listening to ineffective blowhards like Calypso Louis Farrakhan and Al Sharpton rant, rave, instigate and incite doesn't it?

"I Can't Breath" silently says more in a silent way then anything those two loudmouths have ever said in their entire lives.
