We played the entire 2012-2013 NBA season and all we got was the #1 seed in the Western Conference and this crappy awesome t-shirt. I look forward to those shirts becoming a reality for the OKC Thunder. The season as a whole had very interesting moment to say the least. There were many peaks and very few valleys for the Thunder. They showed that for at least for one season they can survive without James Harden and that there run to the NBA Finals last season was no fluke. The usual awards will still apply but they will be awarded for the entire season with a few new ones in there as well.
Buffy Summers Award (Team MVP) - Kevin Durant
Russell Westbrook had a very impressive season but Kevin Durant is the second best basketball player on the planet.
Tom Haverford Award (Best Supporting Player) - Serge Ibaka
He ascended from being a decent player to being one of the Thunder's Big 3. Money well spent.
The New Girl Award (Got better over time) - Reggie Jackson
If there was one player who got better the more time passed it was Reggie Jackson. Hence the award being named after the Zooey Deschanel television show.
Best Win - Beating the LA's
When I was thinking about what was the most memorable/best win for the Thunder two wins vs. the two teams from L.A. came to mind. The first L.A. win was the first meeting vs. the Lakers on December 7th. The hype machine was in full effect for the Lakers during the off season and the Thunder dominated them on that Friday evening.
The second win vs. the other L.A. team came on January 22nd when the Thunder walked into the Clippers building and dominated them in every which way. And the latter win gave us this...
Best Kevin Durant Dunk Of The Season - Vs. The Clippers
Worst Loss Of The Season - February 20th at Houston Rockets
I mean really it had to be this game. It was James Harden's Kill Bill Game for crying out loud. It was also the third straight loss for the Thunder and their longest losing streak of the season.
Best Russell Westbrook Outfit:
From the All-Star weekend in Houston this year. This is all kinds of awesome.
Danger Zone Award - Denver Nuggets mascot Rocky
Someone call Kenny Loggins because Westbrook just entered the DANGER ZONE!
Prometheus Award (Biggest Disappointment) - Kendrick Perkins
I suspect that during this past off season Kendrick Perkins spent time in a parallel dimension where time move faster than is does on Earth resulting in Perkins aging 5 times faster than he would in our dimension. Until someone can disprove me I am going with this being the reason why Perkins appears to have the athleticism of my 80 year old Bubbie.
Walter White Empire Scale - 9
Thunder beat out the the Spurs for the top seed in the Western Conference and now sit in a great position to make a return trip to the NBA Finals.
