Kendrick Perkins and Zach Randolph were ejected as last night's Thunder loss to the Grizzlies came to a close. They reportedly had some sort of confrontation as we reported earlier, but nobody is clear on the details of what happened.
John Rohde and Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman got several other players to talk about the incident, and to a man they all said that the confrontation was just a natural outcome of a physical game.
Kevin Durant:
"We always battle with these guys, especially our bigs. I don’t think they should have got thrown out. But those guys always battle, man. It’s nothing more than that. Pushing and shoving, that’s what the game is about. We have two physical bigs and they have two physical bigs. It wasn’t more than that. Just talking."
Russell Westbrook:
"I think (the refs) probably just got tired of both teams going back and forth. Stuff like that happens throughout the game."
Rudy Gay:
"It was jawing. When you’ve got guys bumping like that, it happens. They’re just physical. That’s all…That’s what makes it fun."
Zach Randolph:
What was said on the court to get you both ejected?
"Aw, I didn't say nothin'."
What happened in the hallway after that?
"It wasn't nothin'. It was a good, tough, hard-fought game. It was competitive, just out there playing, two physical teams that want to win, a lot of emotions flying, so just part of basketball."
