Box Score

The Oklahoma City Thunder came to Tulsa, OK to play their 4th preseason game of the year against the Phoenix Suns, and the Tulsa fans were not disappointed. Unfortunately, the rest of us non-Tulsa residents were likely disappointed, because once again the game was aired only on the radio and not on television. In a world where there are a thousand channels, many of which are devoted to airing craaaaap, how can we not find a way to air a preseason game featuring one of the favorites to win the championship?

Anyway, the Thunder defeated the Suns by a score of 107-97. Despite a close first half, OKC pulled away in the second half behind the scoring leadership of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, who combined for 40 points in the game. Serge Ibaka chipped in with 13 of his own to go along with 8 rebounds, and Cole Aldrich once again hit double figures by scoring 12 on the night.

Durant led the way with 22 points on 8-17 shooting, while Westbrook followed him up with 18 points of his own to go along with a game-high 12 assists. James Harden once again sat out the game with a sore groin, but Harden, a certifiable Suns-killer, was not needed this time out.

As a team, the Thunder once again rolled up a high assist total, collecting 26 on the night. The 3rd quarter was the biggest key, with the Thunder outscoring the Suns 36-30 over that 12 minute stretch, which enabled OKC to push the lead into double digits a minute into the 4th. From that point on the Thunder were able to maintain a comfortable cushion and evened their preseason record to 2-2.
