NBA Power Rankings, Week 17: I Have the Power!

New, comments

Apologies for the lateness of this post. With most teams having only played one or two games wrapped around the All-Star break, most pro rankers' standings remained pat. Even so, it is a good idea to take a look at what each ranking holds to get a sense as to what analysts are thinking of the teams that are both immediately above and immediately below the Thunder. Keep in mind that these rankings predominantly came out before the huge trades were announced yesterday.

From Around the NBA:

SOURCE RANKING (last) COMMENT
SB Nation n/a (10) n/a
ESPN - Hollinger 9 (9) Still holding at 9, but in their last 25, their margin of victory has increased. Also, keep in mind that Hollinger has the 76ers ranked higher, FWIW.
ESPN - Stein 8 (8) Thunder are historically great in shooting free throws.
NBA.com 6 (8) An easy schedule, and same loss count as the Lakers. It can be done!
CBS Sports 8 (8) Thunder seek to go from good to elite. If they do, they're in rare company.
ProBasketballTalk 8 (8) Helin thinks Durant was gunning for MVP; I beg to differ. He was just playing like he always does - takes what the defense gives him.
Hoopsworld 7 (8) A little bit of love for Serge Ibaka's free throw dunk.
Behind the Basket n/a (9) n/a
FoxSports 6 (7) Written on 2/22: "The Thunder are still a player away..."
SportsIllustrated n/a (8) n/a
Covers 8 (6) Tough to get a read on what to expect night to night.
