The mediation story has been breaking over the past hour and details of the mediation meetings over the past three days are being slowly revealed via press conference.

You can get a pretty good idea of what happened from some of the quotes coming out:
"In these circumstances, after carefully reviewing all of the events that have transpired, it is the considered judgment of myself and Deputy Director Scot Beckenbaugh, who has been engaged with me throughout this process, that no useful purpose would be served by requesting the parties to continue the mediation process at this time." - Mediator George Cohen
Ultimately we were unable to bridge the gap that separates the two parties...We understand the ramifications of where we are. We're saddened on behalf of the game." - NBA Deputy Commissioner Adam Silver
"Hopefully, we can get back to the table but certainly a tough day, a very tough day," - labor relations committee chair Peter Holt
I was not able to watch the presser afterward, but here are a few choice tweets from Ken Berger:
---
Silver: "we have certain core beliefs that we think are absolutely necessary ... At this time, we have no further discussions scheduled."
Fisher: "I want to make it clear that you guys were lied to earlier. Plain and simple."
Hunter said league knew what they were proposing "wasn't going to fly."
Hunter on decertification: "All of our options are on the table. Everything."
---
So yeah...things look pretty dead. Well, mostly dead.
