While it might not be the "traditional" Thunder Gameday today, 3 Thunder players will be suiting it up for the T Mobile Rookie Challenge tonight at 8pm local time on TNT and TNT HD. Three of your Thunder favorites will be in action tonight as the NBA kicks off All-Star weekend with the Rookies vs Sophomores game. Kevin Durant and Jeff Green will be leading the Sophomore team up against fellow teamate and rookie, Russell Westbrook.
Kevin Durant scored 23 points in last years T Mobile Rookie challenge in a loss to the sophomore team, the sixth straight in the series. He'll look to improve on that total this year while trying to lead the sophomore team to their seventh straight victory in the series.
This might come in a game that many think is the best chance the Rookies have ever had in the series with budding young stars such as Michael Beasley, Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Brook Lopez, Greg Oden, OJ Mayo, and many more. The Rookie team is absolutely loaded, and on paper, wow, its one hell of a team.
Of course, there is something to be said for experience, and because of that alone, I feel like the Sophomore team will take their 7th straight, and I'm looking for KD to put at least 30 points on the board tonight. Many think this could be his last hurrah at the "Kiddie" table, so to speak, and tomorrow nights Horse competition his welcoming party into the big boy club where he'll more than likely be in every All-Star game from next season on. If you ask me, I think the only reason he's not on the All-Star team this season (Outside of the votes) is because the NBA needs him in the T Mobile Rookie challenge.
Should be fun and entertaining to watch, so be sure to tune in tonight at 9pm EST on TNT and TNT HD.
