Thunder Gameday: @ Sacramento Kings (10-38) OPEN THREAD

Okcatsactown_medium

While Sacramento Kings fans aren't having too much fun these days, at least the Dancing ladies of the ballclub know how to party. Despite the teams 10-38 record, they blew up the blogoshpere earlier this year with their now legendary party shots. But anyway, today is a gameday, the most famous of all gamedays, SUPER BOWL SUNDAY. There are only four games on the NBA Slate today, and the latest tipoff belongs to the Thunder/Kings in Sacremento at 2pm Local time. Its a matchup of the leagues 2nd and 4th worst teams (According to Win totals).

The Kings come into the game today losers of 8 games in a row, a feeling us Thunder fans know all too well, but haven't had to deal with a lot lately after a January which saw Oklahoma City win 7 games. The two teams do have a more recent thing in common though, they both are coming off of blowout wins, Sacramento a blowout loss at home against Chicago, and the Thunder a blowout loss in Utah.

For the Thunder, this team needs to find some defensive tenacity after the season ending injury to Desmond Mason, who was already missed in their first game without him on Friday. Because of his absense, Scott Brooks has already begun playing with the rotation and there is definitely work to be done. The group of five on the floor at points Friday night were just far from ideal, especially to begin the 2nd quarter, which was absent of Durant likely because of his two fouls in the first period.

The Thunder should focus most of their defensive attention to Kevin Martin who averages just under 24 points a game for the Kings and dropped 35 recently against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Scott Brooks should look at putting Westbrook at the 2 guard some today to get a solid defensive presence on Martin, and when he comes out of the game, swap in Kyle Weaver. The last thing we want to see right now is Earl Watson guarding their best scorer.

I commented over at Sactown Royalty this morning my prediction for both this game and the Super Bowl, and I'm going to stick to it: A DRUNKEN STOOPER!
