Gotta be the shoes
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook Look Like Hipsters
Via The Hoop Doctors:
Wait, this is cool now?
Good lord, this is like those crazy 90s fashions that players end up looking back and laughing at. Why do the world's greatest athletes look like bookworms? Fake glasses? A sweater vest? A purple v-neck? All I have to say is, thank god for James Harden. At least he carries his look off with style, rather than looking like a poser. KD and RW are my heroes, but being an athlete never necessarily means you have a good fashion sense. (And I'm not saying my fashion sense is any better.)
New KDIV Colorways, With Release Dates (Mint Candy, Thunder Home White/Photo Blue, Midnight Navy/Team Orange, Black/Team Orange, University of Texas, White/Black, Metallic Copper)
You can find all of the previous KDIV Colorways here and here.
The NBA season is in full swing, and there's no shortage of shoes out there. Kevin Durant and his shoe, the KDIV, shocked the sneaker world with colorways such as the Weatherman, Nerf, and Year of the Dragon. But as the shoe goes into more full-scale production, more toned down and area specific designs are starting to pop up. Some are grand slams, some are terrible, and some are just okay. Let's get down to it and sample these new colorways.
Mint Candy Colorways
Release Date: April 2012

Analysis: This shoe goes with the metallic paint of the Metallic Copper and Cool Grey colorways, but it does so more subtly, integrating different shades of light blue rather than blasting one color in your face. It's the type of shoe that does just enough to stand out without being too outrageous, as the lighter shades of blue are close enough to the metallic color on regular gym shoes these days to blend in.
Opinion: I'd love to see this shoe next to some white snow. Or on an all light blue basketball court. Or worn with Denver Nuggets uniforms. Heck, I'd love to see this shoe anywhere. It works well as regular shoe, a fashion statement, and a gym shoe. No complaints here.
Grade: A. Almost perfect, just lacks a slight "oomph".

UPDATE: Check out even more new colorways here!
The lockout may have slowed down a lot of things, but Kevin Durant has been hard at work. Or, at least, the guys at Nike have been hard at work designing some cool new colorways for his shoe. If you aren't aware, the release date and launch colorways have already been announced. Without further ado, let's jump right in and look at these new designs.
Nerf Colorways

Analysis: These colorways harken back to a simpler time. Namely, being a kid in the early 90s, when virtually all products were marketed to you on TV with bright neon colors. One of the more notable brands was Nerf, which encouraged sibling rivalries everywhere by stocking kids with bright, colorful, and occasionally dangerous toy guns. Of course, the gray base for the shoe has given this pair of shoes a more modern look. Still, the original desire remains.
Grade: A-. Cool, but I wish they would have gone all out with the shoe.

Kevin Durant's KD IV Release Date, Retail Price Announced
Update: If you want to see all of the Colorways of the KDIV, click here and here.

Yep, the expected has happened. After a full season of stuntin' in our KD IIIs, it's time for the KD IVs. Given the success of the KD IIIs, these should sell like hotcakes, even with the lockout going on.
The shoes will be released December 3rd in this colorway, and will retail for $95. Heck, with the money you're saving on tickets and/or League Pass, these shoes are hella affordable. Other colorways should release in early to mid 2012.
I'm not normally a proponent of the modern style going on nowadays, but these shoes are pretty sick. The tounge no longer had the silly hole in it the KD IIIs had, and the velcro strap is a nice touch. The mesh on the side is well placed, and isn't in a spot that will result in tearing after extended wear.
I'm always a fan of shoes with no white, so I could see myself wearing a pair with these colorways. But the swoosh over the velcro strap is a bit questionable, and looks kinda cheap in my opinion. Overall though, it's far better than the previous KD incarnations, in my opinion.

Kevin Durant Zoom KD III Nike iD: Fan-Designed Shoe Makes Debut
I unfortunately am late on this story, otherwise I would have paid closer attention to Kevin Durant's feet during last night's win against the Lakers. Apparently over All-Star weekend, Durant held a competition that allowed his fans to submit their design ideas for his signature shoe, the Zoom KD III. Late last week, Durant announced that he'd be wearing one of these fan-designed shoes last night:
