Thunder set to release Steven Hill

stephenhillreleaseAccording to our source, close to the team, the Thunder are expected to give Steven Hill his outright release this week. Of course this is speculation and completely unconfirmed, but seems to fall in line with the other big thing we expect to happen this week. Obviously, it hasn't been officially announced yet as to whether Nenad Krystic will be picked up by the Nets, but the news of the teams supposed plans to release Stephen Hill makes us believe that the Thunder are confident the Nets will not match their offer sheet to Krystic.

If the Thunder do end up with Krystic it would make sense to give Hill his outright release. The Thunder would be adding a big man inside without having to trade or lose any other players, which leaves them quite full of project big men, with the likes of Robert Swift, Johan Petro, and Mo Sene. So instead of sending him down to the D-League 66ers, it makes more sense to go ahead and part ways with Hill.

Again this hasn't been confirmed, but if it turns out to be true, its likely because the Krystic deal is going to go through, or because the Thunder are confident in other deals they have in the works. I guess we should be finding out fairly quickly. We'll report more as information becomes available.

Other than that, I'm off to get ready for the trip down to OKC to watch the Suns take on our boys from up in Loud City 321 tonight. I'll keep my eyes peeled to see if Hill is dressed and with the team.

not a suprise… Hill was only for practice purpose only… hopefully Kurly will bring a new piece of the puzzle and add to the team…

Yeah, I agree AD, its not a huge surprise, but I really didn’t expect them to outright release the guy, because he was playing well in Tulsa when he was down there.

He was at the game last night, not dressed, but sat one row behind the team in a suit, so it still remains to be seen whether they release him or not, but we should know today I would think.
