Oklahoma City returns home to Loud City and the Ford Center tonight to take on the New Jersey Nets. The last time these two teams played, Nets Rookie Brook Lopez went nuts and dropped 31 points and 13 boards in the Nets 103-99 victory at home in New Jersey. The Nets come into tonight's game struggling, having dropped five straight games after defeating the Thunder at home. They finally broke their losing streak on Saturday against the Memphis Grizzlies with a 99-88 victory.
It seems like a pretty good oppertunity for the Thunder to get another win at home, cause let's face it, the Grizzlies ain't exactly the Orlando Magic, and is not likely to translate into a lot of confidence for this New Jersey Nets team. On the flip side, the Thunder are 5-6 in the month of January, and are looking to log their first winning month into the record books, and if they can get that victory tonight against the Nets it will go a long way in helping that cause. That would put them at 6-6 heading into the final two games of the month, against the Grizzlies and a Jazz team the Thunder thumped earlier this month. To be fair though, the Jazz demolished this Thunder team early in the season in Utah, which is where that game will be played.
The Thunder really need to put a body on Brook Lopez tonight because they can't afford to let this guy embarass the team again, especially at home, you can't have a rookie killing you like he did in New Jersey. Its kind of hard to even think like that when they still have "Half Man, Half Amazing" in the lineup, but first things first is to hold down the post and keep Lopez away from easy shots and rebounds. Once they get Lopez contained, they can focus on Vinsanity.
