This has been a trade idea that is been brought up multiple times, including before the trade deadline on this site, but I think it's worth it to talk about it again. These playoffs made it very clear that we need more production out of the center, and by more, I mean any. Boogie Cousins comes with his issues, but the Thunder organization has handled cases like his before (Westbrook, Perkins, etc.). Kevin Durant is a great motivator, along with Russell, and they will make him accountable. Mo Cheeks is highly respected throughout the league. Even Scott Brooks, for all his warts, is good at nurturing young talent into great basketball players. Cousins would add a whole new wrinkle to the Thunders' "blah" offense, and he would make a great pick and roll partner with Russell. He is young and athletic, and can run with the young guns.
The Kings, with a new owner and presumably a new coach, look to be attempting to change the culture around the franchise. This could mean Boogie is available at less than his true value. Trading the 12th pick, the 32nd pick, Kendrick Perkins, and Thabo Sefolosha for Cousins, John Salmons, and a second round pick works under the cap. This trade would totally change the team, giving the Thunder a dominant starting lineup (presuming Lamb takes Thabo's spot in the starting lineup, which isn't at all guaranteed). The Thunder would finally have a true post up threat, a dominant rebounding front court with Durant and Ibaka, and the atmosphere around the Thunder would help Boogie finally get his head right. What do you think?
