It is a slow news/sports day today. School is back in session this week, college kids are wondering where their summers went, and we have about 2 months to ramp things up to get ready for the upcoming season. Oh, and 2 months to hope that James Harden gets signed before the panic starts to set in.
James Harden and his extendo-scoop move make an appearance. When people talk about Harden's 'old-man' game, this is one of the things they're talking about. He sticks out his arms with the ball like a 45 year old playground legend and dares you to try and steal it.
The increase in available data by way of advanced multi-camera tracking is awesome both from a team management standpoint as well as a fan standpoint. However, I wonder if there is a threshold; sometimes the sport loses its luster when the thing gets broken down into infinitesimal components.
I will always enjoy Gregg Popovich answers to reporter questions as well as Popovich explanations of answers to reporter questions. The funny thing to me is, I have a hunch that in private circles Pop has an extremely congenial and compassionate side to him to go along with his acerbic wit.
