The Miami Heat finished off the Thunder in Game 5 by finally putting all of their pieces together and running away in the second half. For 24 minutes it looked like the Heat were playing better but OKC refused to allow the game to slip away. The Thunder made their run early in the 3rd and for the briefest of moments it looked like they could get back into the game.
Unfortunately hopes were dashed as the Heat then exploded with 5 3-pointers in the 3rd on their way to 36 points in the quarter overall. What could have been a one possession game turned into a 24 point deficit. Even then the Thunder did not go quietly in the 4th, but by then the Heat were too grooved, too dominant, and too good for the outcome to be in doubt.
