First off, I hate bandwagon fans as much as the next guy. As a die-hard Carolina Panther fan, I tolerated A LOT of them this past NFL season simply due to all the Cam Newton j*** riders who pretended like they were there from the beginning, from losing Julius Peppers, to Jake Delhomme's playoff meltdowns, to the 1-15 and 2-14 disastrous seasons. Now they want to tag along for the ride only to flood our boards with ludicrous statements and enormous amounts of trolling, embarrassing our fan base through their ignorance as a result. Anyways, when it comes OKC and the Thunder I find myself in a similar situation.
As of now, I'll admit, I'm a Kevin Durant fan, but I'm asking to tag along for the Thunder's ride into playoffs and future seasons of success. *knock on wood*. Basketball is my 2nd favorite sport and I've followed it very closely for several years, but never really had that one team I rooted for, rather just certain athletes. I go to College of Charleston so I should cheer for the Lakers right?..Nope, sorry they're too boring for me. I live in SC, so why not the Bobcats? Ha, no comment. It wasn't really until this year while playing NBA 2k12 after messing around with different teams did I then realize, Hey OKC is pretty damn fun to play with.
This is how I became interested in the team and started following them more. After watchign several match-ups on TNT/ESPN, I saw how mesmerizing of a player KD can be. The man seriously gives me chills up my spine at times. He's incredible, humble and a true professional. Bottom line, the Thunder as a whole, are just an extremely fun team to watch play. From KD to James Harden, to Cook. The team is unselfish, young, fast, and full of passion. In a way, sure, I "chose" OKC to be my team. But don't we all pick a team somehow, whether directly or indirectly. Yeah I wasn't here when they were in Seattle for the 23-59 season or when they went 20-62. I can imagine they were difficult. But I hope to be involved in the boards here a lot more frequently and become an informed fan of the Thunder, not one who has no clue about the sport itself or the history of the franchise.
