Portland Trail Blazers 103, Oklahoma City 93; 2011-2012 Game 7 Quick Recap

Box Score

The Blazers hand the Thunder its' second straight loss tonight. The Thunder struggled offensively, allowing the Trailblazers to pull away in the second half.

Kevin Durant had 19 points on 8-for-26 shooting tonight. If that wasn't enough to doom the Thunder, Westbrook, 22 points, went only 8-for-18. Portland was able to pull away late in the third, going on a 13-4 run to take the lead for good. Altogether, the Thunder shot only 13-for-38 in the second half.

LaMarcus Aldridge lead the way for the Blazers with 30. Although the Thunder defense was not to blame tonight. After playing 7 games in 10 days, OKC seemed to lack any sort of aggressiveness on offense tonight. To put it in perspective, Portland shot 36 free throws tonight, making 29. While the Thunder only attempted 21 at the foul line. In addition to the Portland starters were also able to out rebound the Thunder starters 33-24

Thabo Sefolosha was held out today due to flu-like symptoms. Which meant James Harden, the team's leading scorer with 23, got the start tonight. Without Harden, the Thunder bench only scored 14 points.

The good news for the Thunder? They get the next two days off before beginning the dreadful back-back-back stretch starting Friday.

Thunder Wonder: James Harden, 23 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds

Thunder Down Under: Nick Collison, 6 points, 9 rebounds

Thunder Blunder: Kevin Durant 19 points, 8-26 FGS

Thunder Plunder: LaMarcus Aldridge 30 points, 8 rebounds

Best in the west anybody?

you guys have a good team,

but your blog is atrocious. demand better. really.

what?

are you talking about blazersedge? i’ve been around plenty of blogs around the league, blazersedge is by far the busiest and has some good writers. they aren’t as much homers as they are on the OKC blog so it’s actually better.

Pretty sure Dudehere is a Blazer fan referring to this blog right here, not Blazersedge.

And I have to agree with Dudehere. Every post by a lead writer as well as all the live game threads on Blazersedge yield hundreds of responses, whereas here even the primary postings get about as many responses as the most asinine fanposts on our side. And most of the comments from today here were from Blazer fans anyway!

constructive criticism

I don’t mind it, but:

but your blog is atrocious. demand better. really.

Can you please be more specific? Please keep in mind that you’re comparing a relatively new site with a young fan base to a storied franchise and one of the biggest blogs on SBN. thx

Posted this below

I’m not talking about the amount of activity on this site from the fan base, I’m talking about the quality of the writing itself. Neither am I comparing it to Blazersedge, but comparing it to other SB’s. Not all are great, I just think in terms of quality, they tend to be better than this. Some pieces laden with lazy accusations: Nuggets being a bottom feeder, Blazers losing 7 of 8 to Thunder, etc. Aside from sounding arrogant, it’s just baseless and frankly erroneous. This is my opinion. Thunder fans in general tho, pretty diehard. I’m not trying to be a prick, but I was generally shocked at the content of the preview, so I made the post.

Have some respect

Yes I highly disagree that the Blazers would beat the Thunder only 1 time out of 7 or 8 games, yet I would hardly call this an atrocious blog. Us Blazers fan are some of the most diehard in the league and have a franchise that’s been around far longer than the Thunder. You can’t expect their blog to be buzzing with as much activity as ours.

uh...the Thunder were not an expansion franchise

I don’t cut em no slack

He didn't say they were an expansion franchise

But I think T*Stroyer recognizes the bifurcation between the erstwhile Sonics and the latter day Thunder organization.

Obviously we all know the unfortunate history of the Thunder franchise, but as we’ve seen in avid discussion on this site (for example, HERE), both Seattle fans and OKC fans seem to be of the mindset that the Thunder franchise should be its own entity and not retain Seattle’s as part of the team’s historical canon. As a result, we haven’t seen much carryover from old Sonics fans to the new Thunder organization.

In a sense, the team is starting over in OKC, working to build an entirely new fanbase and relationship with its city. Certainly, Blazers Edge is an example that we want to follow and I know that your man Ben is the best of the best. All we can do is ascribe to be better tomorrow than we are today, and hopefully more fans will join us.

it's all good :-)

And sincerely, thanks for stopping by. I know ya’ll are Blazers fans, but if it helps pull OKC fans out of the woodwork to stop by and comment, then everybody wins.
