Game Thread #19: Oklahoma City Thunder vs Golden State Warriors

Oklahoma City Thunder at Golden State Warriors, Jan 27, 2012 9:30 PM CST

The Thunder travel to the west coast for the first time this season as they prepare to take on the Warriors. Golden State gave OKC some trouble last season, winning one game through an aggressive offensive scheme and relentless offensive rebounding. OKC must have their rebounding focus tonight if they are going to come away with the road win.

Please stop by SBN's outstanding Warriors site, Golden State of Mind, to say hello.

Turnovers are looking like a problem so far

Durant has definitely had more success in a half-court offense

Yeah

Luckily both teams are playing pretty sloppy.

Sefolosha

Did they say why he went to the locker room? I wasn’t paying a lot of attention.

I have the GSW crew

I think it was a minor ankle injury

Half court shot from Robinson. Nice!

He's playing like a madman tonight

I’m predicting 20+, if he can get the minutes. Out for blood!

Washington game all over again

Now is where GSW get a 20 pt lead in 15 secs

Thunder hit a slump at a really bad time

Didn’t really have a go-to play when they needed it

I hope you don’t mind if I watch the rest of the game though even if it’s already decided.

Thunder's turnovers are killing them

the Warriors will always make you pay for those

Also 5 shots in a row between Ibaka and Perkins

Just like last year when Perk was determined to run a fastbreak and couldn’t. This year he’s bound and determined to get that stupid jump hook of his in

by das06h on Jan 27, 2012 10:40 PM CST up reply actions

It's just unbelievable

And it always happens to us on the road. We can’t ever build on a lead

by das06h on Jan 27, 2012 10:36 PM CST reply actions

Also, have you guys noticed our new Ibaka inbounds play

Ibaka is always wide open in the corner for a shot, but he always wants to fade away, and thus, never seems to make it

by das06h on Jan 27, 2012 10:41 PM CST reply actions

Yeah

He’s much better with the standstill jumper at the top of the arc

Hahaha

Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing.

by belt on Jan 27, 2012 10:43 PM CST up reply actions

Fun first half...

Pretty much exactly what I expected, high turnovers, high points, GS raining threes and not rebounding the ball.

by belt on Jan 27, 2012 10:41 PM CST reply actions

Yep

Also old players… Grant Hill and Jason Kidd seem like they roll the clock back a decade against us

by belt on Jan 27, 2012 10:46 PM CST up reply actions

Because we rely too much on pressure defense that focuses on ball handlers

while also keeping our eye on principal scorers. As a result, we usually end up leaving some guy open. If the other team can find him and he can knock down shots, out goose is cooked.

Why all the wideopen looks

Quit watching the ball and stay with your man

by das06h on Jan 27, 2012 11:01 PM CST reply actions

The Thunder are trying too hard to beat the Warriors at their own game

They need to focus on giving the Warriors tough shots, not looking to get out on the break.

He jabbed an elbow into his chest after the shot

Rumor has it that Texas is about to sign a huge corporate sponsorship deal for the Longhorn Network. They just have to decide which brand represents them best: Dyson, Eureka or Hoover.

Reggie J was a good 3pt shooter in college

That’s one reason I was excited about him. He’s being left wide open. Thank God Ibaka feels like rebounding today

by das06h on Jan 27, 2012 11:22 PM CST reply actions

Lets see some solid bench play!

Need some good bench play to keep this lead in the fourth.

This is getting ridiculous

Every time we sniff double digits, we have to lose our mind for a few possessions to give them a chance to get back in it

by das06h on Jan 27, 2012 11:29 PM CST reply actions

We're getting out hustled on the boards now

and only running isolations. If we settle down, we can get the lead back to a comfortable margin.

But if the game continues at a chaotic place, they have the advantage.

If he ventures into the 6-7 range without hitting, then I get a bit cheesed.

RW almost had a quintuple double

28/11/6/7 and 7 TOS

That’s the second time he’s almost had a legitimate quadruple double against the Warriors at home. RW will eventually achieve this rare feat, and it will come against the Warriors

by das06h on Jan 28, 2012 12:09 AM CST reply actions

It could happen!

I’m sure it will go down at some point of his career. Just like KD’s first 50 point game.
