The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The good was winning (which wasn't pretty ,but we will take it) and Westbrook. I was critical of him in my last post and even tonight there were times when he made some of those bad decisions again. Tonight, however, there was definitely improvement. He hit the big shots. The shots he had been missing throughout the playoffs were finally falling. He also moved the ball much better as the game winded down. I'm giving most of the credit to Westbrook for this win and hoping that he can continue to play like he did tonight through the rest of the playoffs. Some more good things that I noticed was Durant in the 3rd overtime and Harden had some excellent passes to our big men for some easy dunks. Also of course coming back from behind was very impressive as well. The bad was once again the Thunder failing to close out the game. We got the win this time ,but it took three overtimes to do it. As I said above it wasn't pretty ,but we will take it. Once again I'm going to get on Coach Brooks and this young team for not executing down the stretch. The Thunder need to learn to play all 48 minutes. Not 44, not 40....48! I just don't feel confident with this team at the end of games. We just aren't very good at closing out games and it has really come back to bite us. We aren't going to survive very long in the playoffs if that continues. To much talent on this team to allow that to happen again and again and again.  The ugly was watching every ridiculous shot the Grizzlies put up go in, and Durant's awful three point shot at the end of the 1st overtime. He should have drove in. He really let me down tonight. He missed a lot of shots that I felt could have really swung the momentum our way. I'm waiting for that Durant that we saw in the Nuggets game where he completely took over. I didn't see that tonight until the 3rd overtime and he is very lucky his team gave him the opportunity to have so many chances to be that guy. That won't happen all the time. He needs to be that guy in the 4th quarter every time. He needs to be our Kobe and he wasn't tonight. Which is why thank goodness Westbrook was hitting shots. All in all a good win ,but I'm glad we are going home. The Thunder had to get this one and they did ,so great job to them for not losing heart and getting it. Hopefully, they just make it a little easier on themselves next time.
