Darnell Mayberry at the Oklahoman has started to get early impressions of how the guys are looking at the upcoming series.
Here are a few choice snippets:
"It's not going to matter about who's got home court or anything else." - Nick Collison
This perspective is important. The fear that a coach faces is, how is the team going to respond if they spend 82 games earning home court advantage and then immediately lose it in game one of the first round? Championship teams like the Lakers and Spurs know that they can and will have to win on the opposing team's home court if they want to take home the trophy.
"We have a humble approach to everything, but we do play with an edge." - Kevin Durant
I think this comment is an indirect response to the Nuggets claiming that the Thunder have been displaying a cocky attitude. I find it funny that they of all people take issue with cockiness when Kenyon Martin is still manning their front line.
"Experience is the key, and having the mindset that each and every game is important, each and every possession is important" - Daequan Cook
Wasted possessions are the death knell for an upstart playoff team. If you waste possessions early on, rest assured they will come back to haunt you.
