Here is a little video stimulation for you. Two things should stand out:
- The interior defense, led by Serge Ibaka, was a frequent source of fast breaks going the other way.
- Russell Westbrook can be a great perimeter defensive player if he commits to it. He has always excelled at defending the passing lanes; it is his on the ball defense that has often left much to be desired. I do wonder though how much of his (and essentially all) perimeter defenders' statistics are either helped or hindered by whether or not a stout front line sits behind them, ready to repel those who would dare enter the lane.
