Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman on NBA TV

Darnell Mayberry of the Oklahoman, OKC's primary newspaper, is the beat reporter who does such a stellar job in covering the Thunder. I'm a fan of his work, which is obviously evidenced by the fact that I link to his stories daily. He was invited to do a spot on NBA TV yesterday, and you can watch him by following the link:

Here are a few key points to take away:

  • The Thunder's defense has been a year long disappointment, not something merely attributable to one player or injuries.
  • The defensive breakdowns start with individuals needing to do a better job of defending their own man. Too often defenders rely on the help defense bailing them out.
  • They still buy into the idea that they have to become a good defensive team if they're going to progress far in the playoffs.
  • They are still on pace for 53-54 games and a top four seed.
