Darnell Mayberry of the Oklahoman, OKC's primary newspaper, is the beat reporter who does such a stellar job in covering the Thunder. Here are a few key points to take away:
- The Thunder's defense has been a year long disappointment, not something merely attributable to one player or injuries.
- The defensive breakdowns start with individuals needing to do a better job of defending their own man. Too often defenders rely on the help defense bailing them out.
- They still buy into the idea that they have to become a good defensive team if they're going to progress far in the playoffs.
- They are still on pace for 53-54 games and a top four seed.
