Alright guys, I'm a Celtic fan and you better take good care of Kendrick Perkins. He's a good kid, great teammate, tremendous talent, and if he has to be on another team, the Thunder are a team I'd prefer to have him. He will still bleed Celtic Green on your court.
It hurts to lose him, and I think a lot of you understand already that you might have gotten the better end of this trade. I've often thought that you folks were a tough defensive center away from contention, Perk will give you a championship tested center. In my opinion, the best defender 5-feet-in in the league before his injury, and he came back close to form.
I don't think fans or players from either team saw this coming and it's a shock. I've got to believe that Danny Ainge is doing the best for the Celtics future (because I doubt we would have been able to pay Perkins to stay in free agency, 4 mil has been absolute robbery) and I think Jeff Green will give us the lanky wing off the bench that will help equalize against Lebron, and the newly eastern Carmelo, keep guys like Luol Deng in check, et cetera. A lot of teams in the East are weak at center and strong on the wings.
Likewise for you, I'm sure you'll miss Green's scoring. Perk is very limited offensively, and Nate has been struggling, though he heats up quick, change of scenery might help. With you guys Perk might get more run in the post than he has out here. It isn't popular opinion but I think he has some ability there, (if he'd go straight up with the damn ball) he can score a bit, but he's primarily toughness.
The mix you have on your front page is a great one, everybody should watch it. Here are some more things the uninitiated should know about Perkules.
He's a beast.
He can taunt Andrew Bynum without saying a word.
He doesn't smile much.
It's a joy to listen to him speak.
Beat LA. I'd love nothing more than Perk to have a homecoming in the Finals.
