1 Big Man and bench player away...
Alright first of all. I am a semi new OKC fan. I've loved KD since he entered the league but pledged my aligence to Chris Webber wince the Fab-5 days so now with him outta the league im starting fresh with OKC. We got pleny of young talent that i am pleased with (with more exp comes less turnovers). I just think we are really 1 Big Man and 1 bench player away from really competing for the ship. Sure we could draft a center which i would love to do, but we cant throw him in the starting line up right outta the gate. Id love to pry Camby away from Clippers. I think he would be a great help while a rookie center learns, plays a few mins per game and learns. Any thoughts on even trying to add a Bosh, Amare? Also, we need a sturdy bench player thats impacts the game with fresh legs and smart play. Like a Bobby Jackson/ Jamal Crawford type player. I'd love to hear any ideas you guys have for this role. I think with the way we've been playing we should be able to lure better talent to town.

Welcome!
I’m glad you’re here, and especially so because Chris Webber actually played for the Warriors a short time before his career was over. So, if even only for a couple months, you followed the Warriors! Heh.
And yeah, I’m sure everyone would agree with you in that we would need a Defensive oriented center, like Camby, and a nice scoring guard off the bench, like Jackson or Crawford. But, I don’t think the Clippers are looking to trade Camby, and I doubt we would want him. He’s only got a couple of years left, and our team is looking to compete for a long time. Same with Bobby Jackson.
In the end, I’m not expecting any deadline moves. The team is still hoping Harden can develop into the scorer he needs to be, so I don’t see them jumping after a bench guard. A big man remains a possibility, but I only think we could secure a good one if we were willing to give up Jeff Green, and I don’t think our team is willing to do that just yet.

Welcome...
to Loud City. I’m not so sure I would want an old-man like Camby on this young team. Bosh is the dream piece for the team, but I really doubt he will make the move to OKC. I don’t know about Amare, it just seems there is somewhat of a Knucklehead factor for him, maybe im wrong though. Dont sleep on Serge Ibaka.

I think we should trade Jeff Green and cash in a sign and trade for david Lee. Knicks pay 4 million of Lee's contract
then we should trade our pick and Phoenix’s pick to the T-Wolves for cash and next year’s first round pick.
So we aquire Lee for like 3 million and Jeff Green. The Thunder don’t need any more picks this year, they should trade two okay picks for a good pick next year.
Then the Thunder should sign Kyle Korver to back up Durant.
So the Thunder would have a very productive bench too
Rotation
Westbrook/ Maynor
Harden/ thabo/ korver
Durantula/ korver/ thabo
Lee/ Collison/DJ
Ibanka/ Nenad/ Collison Nenad and Ibanka will share the starting center spot

SETTLE GUYS!!!
Has anyone watched these past four WINS!?
I for one see TREMENDOUS upside in Serge Ibaka – who not only is a shot blocking machine but is now showing signs of a mid range jumper. Nenad Krstic is playing the best defensive basketball of his professional life!! Collison has been instrumental in the final minutes of the past two wins. I see nothing but upside for that core. To trade and move people around will only affect the wonderful chemisty the Thunder already have.
Also for all the Green haters – he has assumed his position as a role player on this team. Tonight against the Hornets he didn’t try and do too much. He hit some critical threes and played good team basketball. He is taking less shots and is much more content dishing the ball off and playing solid D.
Let this team GROW together and we will see wonderful things…

Oh and by the way - It's Serge Ibaka not Ibanka

I didn’t know if that was meant to be some sort of nick-name.

yeah
I see people spelling krstic “kristic” sometimes too. That one is sorta confusing though… Btw, ibaka is looking pretty awesome lately. I would love to see his offense get as tenacious as his defense though. He’d be a machine at that point.

basically
I just think he seems a little timid on offense, whereas its the exact opposite on the other end. He needs to find more balance in this regard. There’s no reason he should be nervous about making a move and taking it strong to the basket once in a while other than maybe needing to work on his ball handling…he settles for a lot of mid-range jumpers and hook-shots, although they go in often, I see the potential for so much more offensively. Krstic already gives us the mid-range jumpers, so let’s get someone with strength in there to attack the basket and keep the opposing team’s D on their heels.

Mullens?
Anyone know how he is progressing? Ibaka seems to be progressing and developing very well and I’m curious as to how Mullens is playing or what the coaches think of him? Anyone know or have thoughts?

re: Mullens?
He actually looked decent to ok in the Cavs game. Played solid d. He is very very raw…It is so hard to tell at this point. I think they should send him to the 66ers to get him some playing time, having him on the bench isn’t helping him any. With Serge coming into his own, Krstic playing better basketball and Collison in the rotation – I really don’t see the need for him to be benchwarming.

Concerning Mullens....
I agree he is very raw still. He needs to develop some moves in the post and settle into the game. Right now he is thinking too much, instead of just playing.
Mullens is not getting minutes on a regular basis, so it hard to jusdge his game on the NBA level. In the D-League he was a regular double-double guy. Overall, I’d say Mullens is an athletic big with a nice shooting touch. I was watching him during pre-game warmups against Atlanta, Golden State, and Indiana. Byron has very good range and was fairly consistant shooting from around the key.
He is a project no doubt, but he also has a lot going for him. Hopefully he can pull it all together.

YEAH he was a huge bust
cannot believe hevwas chosen over blair
by MJ5 on Feb 5, 2010 3:59 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
what?
he’s a 19 y/o rookie, how exactly is he a bust?
by ThunderHorn on Feb 5, 2010 8:01 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
when you think about how the Thunder could have got Jonas jerebko or Blair
or even Taj Gibson
right now he is a bust. If he can improve and develope some offense then maybe he will be worth it. But those guys are far superior players
by MJ5 on Feb 5, 2010 8:13 PM CST reply actions 0 recs
with that logic there are a lot of busts this year since guys haven’t become impact players their first year in the league. thats bad logic and your expectations were way too high for a kid that Presti and the entire organization admitted was a PROJECT.
I’m not confident he’ll develop into the center the Thunder want/need but to say he’s a bust before he’s even had a full season in the league is ridiculous.
by ThunderHorn on Feb 5, 2010 9:50 PM CST up reply actions 0 recs
well let's be fair...
BYRON isn’t necessarily a bust, he really hasn’t had a chance to even prove himself, but i will say that the draft pick of him was a bust agreeing with what MJ5 said. even watching both of them in college, i could tell blair would be more valuable out of the two. he is undersized (as far as height goes), but he is tearing people up nearly like he did in college. BUT, i would not have predicted him to be so NBA ready, no one would’ve obviously considering how late he went…

Blair
every team passed on Blair b/c he has no ACLs. Big men with bad knees is a bad combination.
