Thunder-Warriors Trade Idea

It has been said here many times that this team probably doesnt need to add 3 more rookies to it this coming year and with likely 3 of the top 33 but maybe not of the 20 picks that is an equation for adding more useful pieces to the mix but none that really are "game changers." This trade doesnt have anyone that as of right now is a game changer, but maybe one that has the upside to be one.

Harpring's expiring, White/Mullens, 3 mil cash and 1 of our picks (probably lower 1st) to GS for Randolph, Azubuike, Devean George (cap filler). In all likelihood we would have to take on Radmonovic to which i would have them take back Nick or Nenad and take George out. This doesnt do a huge amount for GS in terms of cost cutting but it would save them about 6 mil next year, give them 3 mil in cash and another 1st round pick to keep adding pieces around Curry if they want him to be the centerpiece.

For the Thunder they get the upside potential of Randolph who can be a legit shot blocker/Josh Smith type who needs to get away from Nellie but also appears to need to mature. I trust the young leaders on the this team as well as Brooks to bring him in here and get the best out of him because they have created an excellent culture here. Azubuike is out for the year with a torn left patellar tendon in his left knee, but he should be able to recover from that and if he does he would fill the role of backup 3 and added offense off the bench beautifully for us. This move would eat into our cap space but should still leave us enough room to add a Haywood type 5 in the offseason.

this sounds good

I would love to have randolph, which definitely would fill our needs nicely, and we wouldn’t have to give up all of our draft picks just to land someone with upside. The suspense is killing me on who we will go for… But this trade would make me pretty happý.

“Tim Kawakami of the Mercury News is reporting that the Warriors were offered OJ Mayo and filler for Monta Ellis and turned them down.”

This is interesting to me that they could have been out from under ellis deal and had mayo who could be a nice backcourt w curry and turned it down.

wow

that is really a surprise on both sides. I can’t understand why they would want to get rid of OJ Mayo and can’t understand why Warriors wouldn’t pull the trigger. He’s just a better fit than a shot first-get my stats guard.

not to mention the added size for GS would allow them to not be so dominated by the tiny backcourt.

The filler was Thabeet.

The story seems to be true. What a bunch of idiots.

Bill Simmons response...
If GSW really rejected Mayo/Thabeet for Ellis, Warrior fans should consider rioting the next home game.

holy crap they were giving up mayo and thabeet for ellis and they turned it down. that is retarded. they could have then sold off biedrins and built around curry, mayo, morrow/azubuike, randolph, biedrins and brought in a FA or two.

This is a dumb trade for the Warriors...

As commendable as it is an idea…why in hell would the Warriors give up their best defender and glue swingman Azubuike and their future frontcourt piece in the always-hard-working Randolph for who? Randolph had some trouble with Nelson, but now he is recovering from injury and putting on serious lbs. He went from 197 last year to 225 now and could be 245 by the end of the summer, when he will be training w/ Chris Bosh in Dallas.
