Holiday Gift Ideas from Upper Deck -from upperdeckblog.com
Need a cool, affordable holiday gift for the basketball fan in your life? Why not give him this unforgettable shot of Michael Jordan? Upper Deck honored its longtime basketball spokesman’s selection in 2009 to the Basketball Hall of Fame with this memorable image of MJ taken during the 1991 NBA Finals. It was June and Michael and the Chicago Bulls outplayed a formidable foe (the Los Angeles Lakers) to earn their first NBA championship banner.
For what I assume will be the rest of the month leading up to the holidays, Upper Deck will be offering gifts for sports enthusiasts. The first offering is an amazing 11"x14" photo-quality print of Michael Jordan staring down Magic Johnson during the 1991 NBA Finals, taken from a card made by Upper Deck to commemorate Jordan's induction to the Hall of Fame.
Price on this piece is $29.99, and there were only 500 made. We'll have to wait and see if there are any other interesting tidbits that come up.
More after the jump.
Miami Heat Plane Has Trouble Landing in Cleveland - from The Washington Post
Jackie Mayo, a spokeswoman for Cleveland Hopkins airport, says the crew of the Heat's plane reported a wing "flap issue" early Thursday as the aircraft was on its approach. An alert was issued at the airport and two fire trucks were sent out to the runway, which is standard procedure.
Mayo says the plane landed safely around 2:30 a.m.
Wow...while I am certainly glad nobody was harmed...man, that karma...
Russell Westbrook: MVP Candidate? -from The Big Lead
Is Russell Westbrook playing good enough to get in the early-season MVP discussion? With Kevin Durant sitting out (knee), Westbrook went for 38 points, 15 rebounds and nine assists, plus a bevy of highlight reel plays as the Thunder improved to 13-6.
Not much of an article (though it does have a nice video of Westbrook's put-back off of a Serge Ibaka shot from last night's Nets game), but it does put that thought in the head about Westbrook having an MVP-worthy season so far.
Plus, I had to choose this over a link to a forum I found which is basically a bunch of women arguing over Russell Westbrook's girlfriend.
