NBAPA "99 percent sure" lockout looms - from si.com
NBA players' association executive director Billy Hunter said Monday he is "99 percent sure" there will be a lockout next summer.
"I think it's highly probable that there will be a lockout and that's what I'm preparing for because I don't see anything else right now," Hunter said.
And the rhetoric gets knocked up another notch. According to Hunter, the owners aren't willing to budge on the color of the drapes, much less demands for cuts in in player salaries and benefits.
Hunter also provides a bit of insight into the situation in the boardroom, talking about a "hawkish" group of owners who are basically driving Stern to be so hardline against the players, and a group of owners more receptive to compromise. I wonder which camp Clay Bennett belongs to?
DeShawn Stevenson Finally Fulfilling Potential -from mavsmoneyball.com
Maybe they remember his feud with LeBron James. Maybe they remember that that feud caused Stevenson to get dissed by Jay-Z in one of his raps. Perhaps they think of DeShawn's neck tattoo of our sixteenth president, who occasionally makes appearances at Mavericks games. If they are truly diehards, you might even get told that he was the second place finisher in the 2001 Slam Dunk Competition.
With our upcoming game Nov. 24 against our neighbors to the south, I figured it would be good to see what the Mavericks are talking about.
After nearly a decade in the league, it seems that Stevenson is finally finding his game. Man, I hope it doesn't take as long to develop James Harden.
