In this post, Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel suggests that the Magic should be proactive in trying to acquire Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups in a trade with Denver. In return, Schmitz would send Vince Carter, Marcin Gortat, and Jameer Nelson off to the Nuggets. It makes sense to package Melo and Chauncey together and giving up those three guys would clear enough cap space for Orlando, but I personally can't see it going down (Orlando certainly wasn't one of Anthony's preferred destinations). I don't really care where Carmelo goes, though; I just hope he's gone by Christmas, the next time we have to play the Nugs.
Last year we were ranked first in blocks and the staunch defense catalyzed the Thunder over the latter two-thirds of the season. This year, OKC is last or close to last in most team defensive stats and giving up ridiculous FG and 3-pt percentages. Could Nick Collison's return help galvanize the Thunder's defense and right the ship?
