kevin love
Hey guys, I was reading a post on Golden State of Mind about a traade for Kevin Love and I am copying the idea here. Its a good one. The Timberwolves are a bad three point team and as good as Kevin Love is and Kevin Love are not winning games. The thunder need a beast down low who rebounds and scores. Jeff Green has been inconsistent. He has been a good scorer, but a bad rebounder. Kevin Love is a great rebounder, a good passer, and a good inside scorer. Anyway let me get to the trade. The Thunder would trade Phoenix's 1st round pick, Jeff Green, and Kristic to the T-wolves for Kevin love and Ryan Gomes. Thunder may have to give up a second round pick too. The Thunder are in a tight west division and this trade would definetly improve their chances of taking that eighth seed or higher.
Rotation
Westbrook/ Maynor/ Harden
Thabo/Harden
Kevin Durant/ Gomes
Kevin Love/ Ibanka/ Gomes
Collison/ Ibanka/ Etan
Kevin Durant gets a backup and Thunder get a beast inside named Kevin Love.
Then when the offseason comes around the Thunder can sign David Lee and have the best rebounding lineup in all of NBA. A beastly duo, and the Thunder will be unstoppable and win many championships. The Thunder would be a complete team with it all with nothing holding them back.

i think that Minnesota would have more interest in Harden than Green seeing as they need a shooter as you said w the 3 pt struggles. Sorry but a 3/4 which Green is that shoots 43% from the field and 29% from 3 is not the answer to what ails them. love himself shoots better than that from the field and 3.
Harden shoots 37.7% from 3 so he would be a better fit as he can play the 2 and let Brewer play 3 with Gomes and Jefferson up front. I dont see the need from the Wolves side to take on Kristic or give up Gomes if Al is going to play center. Give J-Hard 35 min as a starter and he puts up 15, 5, 5 easy and gives them a very good young backcourt w Flynn.
Something like Harden and the potential of White for Love and an expiring like Pecherov helps both teams.
I prefer mleetch’s scenario more. I would hate to lose Harden, but adding Love would anchor our front court.
Your friendly neighborhood Loud City resident.
honestly i think it fits the minnesota needs more as well. it would also allow us more freedom in the draft to not have to take a big as we would have love with Ibaka, Mullens behind. Another bonus for us is that Russ and Love played at UCLA together for a year so that part shouldnt mess with the team as much as some other moves.
Not that i would like to use Jeff this way but it would also make him an excellent trade chip for most of the league. A possible idea, maybe Washington. Haywood, Oberto (expiring deal) 1st round pick for Jeff, Nick. Go after Evan Turner with Washington’s presumably top 5 pick. I would play a lot of two guard w Eric and Russ if we traded Harden for the rest of the year. We would then be able to trade one or both of our 1st this year for future ones or other pieces. Resign Haywood. problem as always is what it does to the chemistry.
Haywood/Kristic
Love/Ibaka
KD
Thabo/Russ
Russ/EM
next year
Haywood/Nenad/Mullens
Love/Ibaka
KD/Turner
Thabo/Turner
Russ/EM

you could get more
jeff green and nick collison for dacid west
or you could keep green and trade collison and kristic for dalembert
david west is not more than haywood and a top 5 pick. West is getting 17 and 7.5 which is nice but if they got love Love wouldnt help as neither he or love could play the center spot and west cant block any shots. Haywood is getting is getting 10 pts 11 boards and 2 blocks a game which is exactly what this team needs in a center, especially if love is here. add that to a top 5 pick and it is very good value.
I would take Haywood over Dalembert as well if for no other reason than salary, but this year he is outproducing him on the floor as well. Dalembert is getting 7 pts 9.4 boards and 2 blocks.
They could probably get haywood for cheaper than green if they give them something like Collison and a 2nd rounder, but if they got love i just didnt see a spot for Green and dealing him for a top 5 pick seems pretty good to me, but maybe someone needs a 3/4 hybrid and has a 2 guard to deal.

i didn't see the lottery pick
if one was included then that is definetly a good move for the Thunder.
I just keep thinking how beast David Lee and Kevin Love would be.
God The Thunder would outrebound everybody. How do you outrebound Kevin Love, David Lee, Durantula, Thabo, and Westbrook. Only San Antonio, Dwight Howard, and Marcus Camby could possibly do that
it was haywood, oberto (expiring) and their 1st (which will definitely be a lotto pick) for green and nick.
might be able to get haywood for even etan’s expiring and a 2nd rounder.
lee cant play center in the west and that team would not be able to block a shot for their lives. it is more likely it would be one or the other, but not both lee and love.

blocked shots aren't needed for defense to be good
and why wouldn’t he be capaple for the west. I think he would be very capaple.
Blocked shots aren't needed ...
but they’d help. And the words “Defense” and “David Lee” don’t really go hand in hand. Especially if we’re looking at him to play center …
it is not just blocks specifically but a presence around the basket and neither love nor lee have it if u r talking about them playing center for you. David lee has improved defensively but he cant guard a big in the post, at least not a center.
82games.com goes through the games and assesses the value of players in terms of their offense/defense and the team results with them on and off the floor to create a value for them.
David Lee:
Production: His 23.6 Opp 21.6 +2.0 (means basically gives up what he gets) Team -2.3 on floor, -3.5 off floor net +1.2 (team better with him on court)
overall +1.7.
His stats per 48 ©: 25.1 pts, 55% fg, 14.9 reb, 4.4 asst, .4blks
Opponent stats per 48: 20.4 pts, 56% fg, 14.5 reb, 2.5 assts, 2.0 blks
Kevin Love
Production: His 21.4 Opp 18 +3.4 (better overall net than lee and better defensively)
Team: -8.8 on floor, -11.3 off floor net +2.5
overall +3.0
His stats per 48 (pf) : 23.7 pts, 48% fg, 18.7 reb, 2.7 asst .6 blks
Opponent stats per 48 (pf): 21.1 pts, 52% fg 13.3 reb, 2.7 assts, 1.9 blks
These numbers tell me what my eyes see in that Lee at this stage of his career is better offensively than Love, though he has 3 years of development in the NBA and 6 years of age on Love. Also w Lee you have an offensive system where they play fast, use a lot of pick and roll where he can get easy layups on dives against a lot of centers. On defense both teams play on bad team defensive units. what troubles me in those stats w lee is that while he guarding a position with unquestionably inferior scores he is giving up similar offensive statistics to that of Love vs power forwards. Neither’s defense is that impressive from those numbers btw but when lee is the highest scoring center in the East, 3rd in the league and is basically giving up what he gets that is troubling for me.
Interesting side note since i looked it up out of curiosity is that Bosh gives up similar number to lee as a center and i dont consider him one, but when he plays pf (his real position for me) he gives up 5 less pts per 48 min

Lots of this is going to depend on who
He’s playing with and against whom. Since the Knicks are flatout terrible all-around defensively, it’s hard to discern the individual defensive efforts of the players.
those numbers are HIS man, not the team numbers.
by Michael Gleich on Jan 27, 2010 5:40 PM CST up reply actions
Yes those ARE his numbers ... but
those individual numbers, like most other current defensive stats, are not exclusive indicators of individual defense. They are also affected in large part by the contributions of team defense. X points less per 48 minutes tells us very little outside of the context of the particular team during the course of that season for that player. X points less per 48 minutes for Player A on Team 1 and the same X points less per 48 minutes for a Player B on Team 2 aren’t really that easy to compare. For instance, a great defensive player on a poor defensive team could change teams and suddenly have his overall defensive impact drop dramatically (as an example). Did he get worse? Probably not.
I thought...
love was untouchable, they want to move Jefferson, but who knows with Kahn. Maybe we can trade for Jefferson and Love in exchange for Etan Thomas, a 2nd round pick, and something shiny.
Loud City via Far East
haha. i thought the same thing about love, which is why i dont take this too seriously, but if he cant move Al he will have to move Kevin because Love isnt even starting now.
