Getting in the facilitating game
This is just me wondering out loud, but I just read that the Celtics are looking for a third team to facilitate a sign and trade deal for Marquis Daniels from the Indiana Pacers. I'm thinking that we could get in on this and bring back some more draft picks. Roy Hibbert , I assume, is the only player on either team we would be interested in getting and I'm sure they aren't going to give him up. So I don't think we would/should get involved for anything but pick(s).
Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I don't know all the inner workings like some of you guys, so I don't know what kind of possibilities this kind of situation would hold for us, if any.

Perkins would be someone we might want
but again, I don’t think he is available. But if they would take Krstic it might work. Maybe the most plausible in that case would be:
Boston gets Daniels and Krstic.
Indiana gets Perkins.
Oklahoma City gets Hibbert and pick(s)
Just an idea.
I don't think
Indiana will give up Hibbert, but I would probably take him. As for the picks, we already have 5 picks in next year’s draft. I would think we might be looking to get rid of a pick or two at this point.

why would we want hibbert over perkins? rather make it a 2 team trade and get Perkins who is one of the best defenders at the 5 spot and is only 24 while signed for 2 more years at 4 mil or just over that.

How exactly does a sign and trade work?
The point initially was that Boston wanted Daniels. If Indiana doesn’t have any rights to him then I guess it would make more sense for us to sign him and trade him to Boston. I assumed there was a need for Indiana somehow.
you cannot s&t someone that wasnt on your team last year
indiana has rights to him cause he was on their team last year.
i wasnt suggesting us doing a deal w Boston that sent them daniels. u suggested us dealing kristic and getting hibbert. i was saying i would rather deal kristic to get perkins.

oh i see
but the reason i threw Krstic in was because i dont know what boston is going to do with KG, ‘Sheed and Perkins next year. I dont know if they start ’Sheed at 5 or bring him off the bench. assuming they start ’Sheed at the 5 and KG at the 4, then Perkins would not be as necessary thus POSSIBLY making this trade even happen. So I figure Indiana will want something and Perkins would be the most likely thing. Boston would want someone to come off the bench at 5 as well. So I figured the most logical way to make everyone happy is for Boston to get thier bench 5 and Daniels, Indiana to get a young solid big man(a replacement AND upgrade from Hibbert) and we would get Hibbert, a young competent big man and picks. I would prefer us getting Perkins but the way I described seemed more logical to make everyone happy. I don’t think you can ever have too many picks. you can always use them in future trades and if you get stuck with them oh well. you may not want who you have to pick but at least someone else doesnt get them
but then again
with all the salary pretty much matching up it doesnt make any sense anyways. I dont know what daniels will sign for but Krstic and Perkins cancel each other out for the most part…..so i guess in the grand scheme we would have to get perkins and not send anything to boston for it to serve its purpose right?….bah the offseason is so confusing….tip off cant come soon enough
