surprised Westbrook is even bothering with summer league. of those from the actual roster, it’s usually comprised of rookies and young guys who don’t play much.
Maybe
he’s committed to improving.
Plus, he’s just playing in Orlando. He’s not going to Vegas.

Westbrook, Harden, Ibaka, Mullens and co. take the floor at 2 PDT.
Also, Ibaka is now officially a Thunder. Signed a four-year deal; he’ll definitely be on the squad next season.
They just read my e-mail on the webcast
It was about watching Jordan, Bird and Wilt with my grandpa in the Summer League.
I like that they read it as if it were serious.
RW looks scared to shoot, or like he's trying to hard to get his teammates shots.
that was the third open three he’s passed up.
Man, this orlando summer league team is awful.
lot’s of missed assignments on thunder d and open looks for magic, yet thunder still winning 15-6
Watching Ibaka play makes me doubly glad Presti passed on Millsap.
There’s a lot more skill and polish there than I was expecting (defensive 3, notwithstanding). White, Ibaka, Green, Collison…. yeah, I don’t think we need another PF.
Yes
A couple of clowns, but they’re entertaining.
It’s like watching Mystery Summer League Theater 3000.

They seem to be
roughing up Westbrook.

Thanks
Thought I’d try to be useful instead of sending them random weird e-mails.

BJ Mullens
is a project. A HUGE PROJECT. I don’t like this. We need to get a good center in next years draft.

I'm really excited about Ibaka this year
He could maybe a starter eventually or at worst a decent backup

Harden

kind of
He is on their summer league team and if he does good he will make the team. He didn’t officially sign with the Celtics though (yet probably)

missed the game
anyone have a box score/recap and thoughts on what they saw overall not just the individual plays? thanks.
found the boxscore which leaves me with some thoughts questions but those who watched the game can give me more details on the actual feel of the game.
Russ shooting stats seem concerning but good to see him getting to the line as well as the assist numbers.
Bigs:
solid numbers in the boxscore for White, Ibaka and even Mullens.
Harden numbers wise had a solid debut.

I would say there wasn't enough defense.
Mullens wasn’t impressive at all. He did show a little range, but in the post he let the opposing team get past him on a few occasions.
Harden had a good game. He knocked down a few threes and spotted up a few times.
Livingston facilitated a few good plays, but Westbrook led in assists. (I noticed a few penetrate and dish moves for RW0). RW0 and Livingston feed off each other well. Livingston also showed some hops on a dunk (maybe two).
Ibaka fared a little better than I actually expected. He had a few decent post moves and good athleticism in the post.
White was always finding the ball. He seemed a little lost once when some dished him the ball at the free throw line. He did miss a few midrange shots, but 6/10 isn’t too shabby. Overall White had a impressive game.

I agree
I would also like to add that Harden made some good passes. He’s really pretty unselfish.
Westbrook looked afraid to shoot most of the time.
This was my first look at Ibaka. If he would bulk up a little, I think he can be a good 5. He got a couple of blocks.
Orlando didn’t play well at all. Not sure if that’s why OKC looked as good as they did.

well...
that sounds a lot like i expected where Mullens, White and Livingston are concerned, Harden as well.
Ibaka has a lot of ability, didnt know he had post moves. i would still rather that we wait a year on him, but who thinks based on what they saw that he would have the ability if they needed to contribute 10-15 min a night this year?
by Michael Gleich on Jul 6, 2009 9:48 PM CDT up reply actions
any report on russells shot other than just looked afraid to shoot?
by Michael Gleich on Jul 6, 2009 9:53 PM CDT up reply actions
He seemed like the Russell from last season...
explosive to basket and willing to shoot a bit. The Oklahoman did say…
Westbrook, undoubtedly the most accomplished player lacing them up in Orlando, was a marked man as Russell Robinson, Maurice Ager, Jeremy Pargo and Brian Chase all took turns trying to impress the Magic coaching staff by going at the Thunder point guard.
That might explain his hesitation. I feel he was really trying to find the open man first, and then shoot when there was no other option.

so you are saying that the 3-11 is not indicative of his shooting but more that he was taking shots that he wouldnt take in the normal flow of an offense because he had no other options?
by Michael Gleich on Jul 6, 2009 10:01 PM CDT up reply actions
They were
hammering WBrook. That could explain his performance.
by ElectricPencils on Jul 6, 2009 10:12 PM CDT up reply actions
After being knocked down on that dunk attempt...
I was afraid he was down for the count. But Westbrook always get back up with a smile, it is almost unnatural.

I dropped the ball again getting a live commenting thread up...
We’ll have an official one up about an hour before game time tomorrow for live commenting.
