Hornets looking to move Chandler again
According to RealGM.net:
A number of sources said last week that the Hornets are again shopping center Tyson Chandler.
New Orleans general manager Jeff Bower could work on making a trade before he offers a contract to any free agent.
Does the Thunder want to reconsider Tyson Chandler? What were the issues? His toe?
What would we have to give up to get him?
He's a big body at the 5 spot and he can block shots.

Yes!
I want Tyson Chandler back! Check out this trade:

This gets rid of two bad contracts and will allow DJ White to get more minutes and develop and Kristic can be a nice player off the bench as well.
The Hornets would want to do this deal because Watson is a $6M expiring contract and Collison only has two years left and he could be a great 6th man for them (or maybe even start at center) and get more minutes, so he will be more productive.

No!
It won’t happen, but I like to play with the trade machine. So…
I see your Nick Collison and I raise you a Atkins and Wilkins:

At least we win one more game with this trade. :)

If we didn't take him in Feb, I certainly wouldn't take him now
He was highly ineffective toward the end of the season and had surgery this off season.
Maybe
he was ineffective because he needed surgery?
I don’t know that it’s the case, but it’s possible.

Are you willing to tie up 24.5m in salary over the next two years in order to find out?
Cause I’m not.
depends if you’re going to spend it on anything else.
realistically, you can pretty much cross out marquee free agents coming to okc.

The better question is
Do we have to pay his salary or does insurance cover it should he find himself all stupidly injured again?
insurance covers games missed due to injury, but that doesn’t do anything towards your cap unless you can get an exemption from the NBA based on the fact that player X can never play 10 or so games or something like that. though all the cap space in the world is useless if you don’t use any of it.

most likely, but never underestimate Sarver’s ability to be cheap.

IF
he proved to be completely healthy I’d look into a deal for him, only thing he ties up a lot of money.
What about Jamaal Magloire? I know he has underachieved since his All-Star appearance with the Hornets but he is a guy that can block shots and play defense. He’d probably come for maybe a little over the veteran’s minimum. A 2-3 year deal for 2 mil/year might not be a bad investment. Doesn’t tie up cap space and we don’t give up anything.
If we could get Camby or Pryzbilla or someone else I’d do it but I don’t think any of those guys will be available. Camby might be if Kaman comes back 100% and DeAndre Jordan shows a lot of improvement.
interesting thought in that vain
I have no interest in chandler…had none when we made the deal and was so happy when we called it off and while they all claimed he was healthy look at all the games he missed down the stretch.
Magloire is over the hill at this point, Zaza is a much better option than he is now.
We have all talked about watson for camby, but now that LA moved Randolph i think they need a backup 4 man so since they have Kaman and Jordan at 5, does anyone think they would have interest in Nick for Camby. I know we all love Nick, but it gets us out of his deal a year early and camby gives us an element nick cant. The complement to this deal would be Watson to Miami since we all know they need a point for Haslem as haslem can replace was nick brings. A frontcourt that includes: Kristic, Camby, Haslem, Green, White could be very solid and does no long term damage cap wise.
It buys a year for White, Mullens, Ibaka, Hardin to develop further and lets us see what next years draft looks like with all those bigs. Only potential problem i see is that Kristic could opt out and leave us with some trouble if we have no experienced center next year, but then players like Okur will be out there for a year or two deal.
Thoughts?

So Camby might still be a possiblity?
I’m not certain that Jordan could be a decent back-up. Since we would have to add roughly another $3M to acquire Camby, we could add Atkins non-guaranteed contract to the mix. That would give the Clippers more cap space and Collison.
Trade Machine predicts 8 more wins
The trades do seem a little one sided to me. Originally, I’d hoped for a little more with the Camby trade. Since the Clips obviously needed to move some big men, I hoped they would have tossed in a second round pick. Since Zach got moved, the Clippers are in a much better scenario and wouldn’t be likely to offer anything else (If they would even accept this idea).

What are you talking about Camby makes 7.65, Collison 6.25 thats not 3 mil last time i did math, only 1.4. I dont see how them adding another contract they wouldnt have to take in atkins gives them more cap space even if only about 800K is guaranteed since they dont need to take it. I could be missing incentives not listed on the salary page at hoopshype in which case i take it back and if they want atkins they can have him and save 2.6 mil, no loss to me at all.
Jordan is their problem not ours.
Trade machine salaries are actually last seasons still that is why i am confused by the salary disparity you see and i see. I dont know if they would accept it, but Collison is signed to a relatively reasonable deal and he can play backup 4 and 5 for them. For us i think it gives us more flexibility in a year and it gives us a potential shot blocker to flip at the deadline if we want.
By making the second move of flipping Watson for Haslem we replace what nick gives us and is up at the end of the year while buying White and the rest another year to develop without plopping down big money like Millsap looks like it will take. Also another trade chip contenders would love to have at the deadline ala Kurt Thomas.

According to hoopsworld...
Camby is due $9.65M for the 09/10 season. Which one is correct? The ESPN trade machine also has Camby listed @ $10M (which is last year’s salary, I know, but could his salary be lowered that much in one season).

cause the reason it got to 10 mil based on a bunch of incentives he got from the year before b/w production and winning defensive player of the year. i believe the number is going to be more like 8.9 from what i found cause it is 7.65 and 1.25 mil cause he avg 10, 10 and 2 last year, but that could be off and 9.65 could be right. like i said to me atkins is no loss if they want to basically net 2.6 mil in free money.

Camby’s contract is very team-friendly. After a number of years battling through injuries, Camby is coming off two strong seasons. His contract is incentive-laced based on both performance and number of games played.
Technically Camby is guaranteed just $8 million. His compensation scales upward by $500k each if he plays in at least 50, 55, 60 and 65 games.
If he does indeed play in at least 65 games, Camby’s salary increases by another $250k if he averaged a minimum of 10 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks per game.
Should Camby’s numbers get as high as 11.5 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.6 blocks, his total compensation could be as high as $11,787,500.
