BlazersEdge Mock Draft Update
Hey guys,
As a follow up to my earlier post, we will be doing our mock draft at 11am PST. I will post over here the results of who I select. We were allowed to make trades in our time leading up to the draft, and I completed one.. however because it was so large, it was disallowed as it would overshadow the draft.
You can follow our Mock Here if you want:
So from now until I post the results of my draft for OKC..
here was the proposed trade. Let me know what you think.
Toronto receives:
Pick 3
Pick 25
Oklahoma City receives:
Chris Bosh (contingent upon him signing a long term deal)
2010 1st round draft pick (top 5 protected with an option for 2011 unprotected)
Thanks,
Great Oden's Raven
(UPDATE #1. With the Third Pick I chose James Harden. While I feel he is a bust waiting to happen, the fine people of WTLC have spoken, and James Harden it is. I will look for a shot blocking presence in the late first round.)
(UPDATE #2. With the 25th pick I chose Taj Gibson from USC. I think he would be an excellent pickup for you guys in the late first round. He isnt as strong as some of the other PF/Cs in the draft, but he has excellent rebounding and shotblocking (3 per game this year!!!!) and would be a great backup at C to allow Collison to play PF)
This post does not necessarily reflect the views of the staff of Welcome to Loud City or SB Nation. However, it was made by one of the members of the Welcome to Loud City community, so there is a large chance the above post is extremely ballin'!

I voted yes, but I wasn't the thinking. The answer is no deal.
I love Bosh and think he’d be great in OKC… but I’d need a larger commitment from him than the one year remaining on his contract. If we’ve only got him locked up for the one year, he’s as good as useless.
right, I imagine as with any deal of this magnitude
Colangelo would let Presti talk to Bosh’s agent ahead of time. I dont see why he wouldnt want to play with Durant.. You guys would be unreal if this were to happen

I like the deal but.....
If Bosh is willing to sign with OKC, we can just get him for free next offseason. (by free, i mean that we dont have to give up players or picks)
I dont think he would CHOOSE OKC
but I dont think he would mind playing there.

but that's just the point.
He is gonna get a max contract next year from wherever he signs. So if he wouldnt choose OKC, why would he sign with us now when he can sign with whoever he wants in the summer. If he does want to sign with us, we can just do it next summer and still have the three and jeff green. Further, Toronto knows full well they are going to lose him in the summer, so I dont think we should have to give up that much just to have him for one extra year.
That is the ONLY reason Toronto would trade him
sign and trade is the only way.. and I think you would be lucky to get him. he is a top 3 PF in the NBA

The point is that you're presuming Bosh would agree to a sign and trade,
which, for the purposes of this discussion, is fine.
Realistically, though, I highly doubt that he (or his agent) would agree to that, not with half the teams in the league gearing up for next summer. After LeBron and Wade, Bosh will be the most highly coveted player next summer, with potential opportunities to sign max deals in endorsement- and legacy-rich NY or income-tax free Miami. It doesn’t strike me as plausible that he would lock himself out of that market by agreeing to sign early with Oklahoma.
unless you offered a max level contract

Again,
Bosh is already guaranteed a max contract in the summer of 2010, one that would be (if my understanding of the CBA is correct) significantly larger than any extension OKC would be allowed to sign him to this year. He would essentially have his pick of which team/situation he most wants to be in. There’s a more than decent chance he would land in New York or Miami with a max offer, and he might consider either of those destinations much more appealing than OKC.
Also, as an aside, I don’t know how keen Presti would be on signing Bosh to a max deal. Bosh is fantastic player, better than I think most people give him credit for, but he’s closer to the 15th best player in the league than he is to the fifth. He will most certainly get a max deal next year and, in certain situations, I think he’d be worth it. On the Thunder? I dunno. Presti seems pretty intent on growing this team from within, much the way the Spurs did and the way Portland is doing now. As a Portland fan, you know that cap flexibility is a beautiful thing.
