Chris Wilcox for Malik Rose = FAIL
What are we doing? Just yesterday I was boasting on Sam Presti for pulling off another amazing deal by getting rid of two expiring contracts for an impact center. Then, last night the Thunder rescinded the trade, citing a failed physical of Tyson Chandler. Today, the trade deadline passed, and we were involved in only one deal. Sam Presti sent Chris Wilcox to the New York Knicks for Malik Rose and cash considerations. So I ask again, what the hell are we doing? Can somebody please do a psychiatric evaluation on Sam Presti, becuase he's lost his damn mind! This trade makes me want to send the straitjackets after him!
Are we in the business of doing other teams favors now? I mean seriously, Malik Rose? Rose has played an in eye popping 18 games and scored a downright astounding total of 1.7 points, and 1.7 rebounds per game. Awesome, we trade a dead weight expiring contract for a higher paid, even deader (if that's even a word) weight expiring contract. RIDICULOUS. Can someone please tell me how much these "Cash Considerations" are?
The only thing I can think of is that the organization is facing an economic downturn and needed some cash. I mean seriously, packing 18,000 plus a game must be breaking the bank when the Thunder try to cut checks to pay our players each week. In case you couldn't tell, that was sarcasm.
I just don't understand this move, and I really don't understand why this was the ONLY move that was made before the deadline. Can we go back to yesterday and rescind the rescind? If so, lets do that because even if the guy has turf toe, I'd rather take my chances on losing money on Chandlers contract than whatever the hell we're supposed to get out of this deal.
Is anyone else as baffled as I am?

luxury tax
new york pays 1$ extra for every dollar they go over the luxury tax. basically this deal has no on court impact at all, but my understanding is the difference in salaries is made up by splitting the savings on luxury tax? i’m not entirely sure
Thunder apparantly also traded the worst of their 1st round picks for Thabo Sefolosha as well.
Marc Stein: Chicago’s Thabo Sefolosha is headed to Oklahoma City for one of the Thunder’s five stockpiled first-round picks in the next two drafts.

Chris Broussard said on ESPN
That he thought the Thunder were too conversative with the medical findings on Chandler, and over-exaggerated them. We shall see.

I heard that as well. Either way, we can’t dwell on it. If he goes out next season for the Hornets and returns to form, then good for him. No sense in us agonizing over it either way. Either we dodged a bullet, or the Hornets did. And if its in New Orleans favor, I don’t think OKC fans can hold a grudge against them, not after what we invested in them, and what they did for us.

So is it just me?
Or does anyone out there actually like this, and the way we handled the trade deadline this year? I don’t.

My only question Pappa
Is why you would trade for a guy, who has had injuries this year, and then nullify the trade based on that physical?

The trade was reportedly rescinded not because of his nagging injuries this season, (ankle) but because of the condition of his “Turf Toe” which team doctors said couldn’t be operated on, and it could be with him for a couple of years (Which is the same amount of time on his contract). They also said they didn’t think it would end his career, but could hinder it.
At least that’s what has been flying around the net as to why the Thunder didn’t go through with the trade.

I think Wilcox needed to be moved. Probably for a variety of reasons. Rose was a Presti guy in SA. He knows what he’s getting.
Thabo is intriguing… Desmond Mason 2.0… Without the OSU and Hornets ties.
We ask 48... We give 48...
+1
Why not test out Rose? If nothing else his darkness can draw people into the Ford Center. (Too far?)
And I’ll take a flier on Thabo. Let’s see what he can do, we had too many picks anyway.

I’m also intrigued by Thabo, and agree Wilcox needed moved….along with Smith and Watson for sure. I just don’t like Wilcox for Rose.

I’ve agonized over this now for awhile…
The same Doctor that performed the operation in 2007 is the Doctor that checked out Chandler. Therefore, It goes without saying that he would be a highly credible source to say if there were or were not concerns about Chandler’s condition. It’s frustrating to say the least. I was so thrilled with that trade. However at this point all we can do is trust in the Doctor and in Presti… and hope that for our sake they are right… and for Chandler’s sake they are wrong. It had to be compelling for Presti to back away from the trade. So from here on we take what we’ve got and move on.
Damn Twitter!
We ask 48... We give 48...
I think you guys will be happily surprised with Thabo as a new player!
Can’t wait to see him in this team and hope to see him have a decent playing time!
Again, I do like the move for Thabo. A late first rounder isn’t that big of a deal to give up, which its likely to be, and Thabo is a guy who can come in and help this team.

Rose trade is good...
Malik played for the Spurs when they won titles and in addition to the juicy 7.5 mill that you’re gonna shed he’s gonna bring the proverbial "championship experience" and good lockerroom presence. Sam Presti who comes from the SASpurs family surely knows him personally and knows that in addition to those qualities that Rose brings they’ll get to tank even more and get a higher lottery pick. Genius right?
