Blazers might trade Andre Miller?

According to Hoopsworld:

ESPN.com's Marc Stein brings up some interesting points in his Daily Dime regarding Miller. According to Stein several rival executives said the organization acquired solely so they could have a tradable asset. Originally they wanted to spend their cap space on Hedo Turkoglu and Paul Millsap.

Miller remains one of the better point guards in the league and there's no doubt he's capable of producing much more than he has so far. He can keep his bags unpacked for now though because he cannot be traded until December 13th. Come that time things could be completely different though. Portland will hold onto him if he's a starter who is helping their team take the next step forward.

If Miller is still unhappy come December 13th, expect the phone to starting ringing with questions about what it would take to get Andre off their hands.

If that were to happen, do you think Presti would be interested? The Thunder are in desperate need of some depth at the point guard slot. Especially while Westbrook is still growing into his role.

Honestly, I'm not too familiar with Miller. Last year Miller scored 16.3, assisted 6.5, and turned-over 2.4 on average. Miller's numbers were only slightly better than Westbrook's rookie campaign. Given that info, plus his contract ($21 for 3yrs) and his age, Presti likely wouldn't be interested. I really don't see anyone that would be.

Westbrook isn't consistent enough to run the offense every night. Don't get me wrong. RW0 is my boy. I predicted Presti would draft him in '08, and I know he can pull his game together. Especially with the flashes of brilliance that he displayed in the first few games. Still, I think there is a need for a solid point guard to run the offensive when Westbrook starts turning over the ball. Any thoughts/suggestions?

On a somewhat related note

December 13 would also be the date Orlando could make a deal for Marcin Gortat.

True.

w/Brandon Bass on their roster maybe they can part with Gortat?

Also Known as "4D" one step beyond 3D

They have plenty of big guys

and we can send them one or two of our PFs and picks.

Shit I'll take bass over

Gortat anyday…. He is very over rated he is only a backup and we have two

Side note that is also the date David lee pUl milsap and verijo can be traded for ….. Let’s grab David lee or milsap over gortat and miller….. Plus I doubt pdx trades miller …. They just got him that reporter was just talking out of his ass… Portland will be open to trade bayless and outlaw…

How the hell did that happen? I am Trailblazer fan to the core but I love me some OKC THunder!!! Must be the Hometown pride I feel.

I like both

Lee and Milsap, but if we get one, then that either Green or the new player comes off the bench. It also doesn’t solve our need for a solid big man, which most think Gortat can be.

I know this is an old convo

but what makes people think Gortat would be more than an expensive stopgap? He doesn’t play more than 17 mins a game… He us a great backup but what about his offensive game and ability to close the gap we have inside the paint … We all know he has good backside d but his post game on both sides of the ball are very lacking… And we are already a pretty good rebounding team … So what does he bring to the table???? Not trying to be an ass about this guy… I am all for him if he produces 12pts 9-10 rbs and 2 blks a game!!!

Yeah

but in all fairness, he only plays 17 minutes a game because he plays behind the best center in the league.

What if he played 25-30 minutes a game?

His production as a starter is speculative, sure, but you’ll never know what he can do until he actually gets minutes.

why on earth are people talking about lee and millsap? they were both out there, especially Lee for MONTHS and we didnt offer them anything and now suddenly we are going to trade players to get them?

by mleetch352 on Nov 9, 2009 1:36 PM CST reply actions

I was talking about

Lee and Milsap because the person ahead of me mentioned them.

The last thing I want is another power forward.

i wasnt blaming you for it or anything, just saying anyone who follows this team knows we had more than ample opprotunity to go after either one at the cost of nothing but money and chose not.

by mleetch352 on Nov 9, 2009 8:30 PM CST up reply actions

I don't think

we’ll make a play for them this time either.

Miller

I don’t understand the Miller signing. Yeah he and Blake looked great out there against the Spurs last Friday but was it necessary to put them both in the lineup to get the tempo up? You have Miler who if given the green light, will push the ball all game.

If they want to go uptempo start Miller alongside Roy and Webster and push the ball. Webster will get out and run as will Roy, and Aldridge always runs the floor. They should be running a lot more than they do anyway. All the athletes they have they should be pushing the ball all game. Roy, Webster, Outlaw, Batum, Fernandez, Aldridge, Bayless. All those guys will run the break. No reason they shouldn’t be hitting 100 pts every night.

Blazers signed Miller as an

Insurance Policy and to help with veteran leadership in a playoff series
only problem is that he is fucking up the growth of some of the other players at the moment

NO!

No need for Andre Miller now
we need a veteran 2 guard and a
another wing player utility guy like Ariza or Posey type

Speaking of Posey

He might be available if the Thunder are willing to absorb all of his salary.
