Thunder Thoughts

The Oklahoma City Thunder displayed Tuesday against the Lakers why those in the know are excited about this team. While the Thunder didn't come out with the pop they needed to they did show they have the resilience to be a good team.

What went wrong?

Anytime you have a player missing eight three's your team is going to have a rough day. When that player is your star player common sense would tell you that you are in the middle of a blowout in some form. Fortunately, the Thunder have begun to prove that it takes a little more than bad shooting performances to derail their train. Although Westbrook played a good game it seemed that in the last four minutes of said game (before overtime) that he went back to last years form. I'd like to think of him as two players some of the time. One is when he is in the form of Bruce Banner. He makes good plays and is smart with the ball, but when he gets in a tight pinch, you wouldn't want him to get angry! He transforms into a player that makes rash decisions and bad plays. Scott Brooks timely timeout seemed to corral the coming storm that is Hulkbrook.

What went right?

Their names will be song loud and brightly around the Thunder campfire in admiration for their battles. Sefolosha and Green did what it took to get the job done. Sefolosha put the clamps down on Kobe, if that can be done in any form, and Jeff Green made plays when they needed them. Look out Lakers! When these Thunder meet you next time it will be with desire in their eyes and I would bet a better shooting performance from Kevin Durant. Whatcha Gonna Do Brother when the Thunder rain down on you!!!

I like the fact that Brooks benched Krstic in favor of Etan.

I hated the fact that Ollie hovered around half court like a hummingbird.

Harden, Green, Thomas and Sefolosha were all solid.

I wonder what plays Brooks actually drew when Durant was launching the duds.

play?

Yeah, because that couldn’t have possibly been the play. I’m guessing a clear out and create your own shot, maybe.

Come on

You don’t think he scripted up a thirty-footer from a red-hot Durant? I agree with the guys on NBA.TV who said watch out for the poor fool guarding KD when he finally snaps out of this funk. You know he is beating himself up overe those two airballs. We love ya slim!!!!

ya

if you fallow him on twitter he seems to be dwelling on it. “Still a little frustrated about the game but we have 78 more! I work hard so it’ll pay off!! Thanks again 4 the love and hate!!” KevinDurant35

Second that emotion

Thabo was looking fabulous last night. Glad they had the foresight to sign him to a longer deal.

Young team

the play down the stretch was completely characteristic of a young team still figuring out how to put the clamps on a team and close them out. W’brook’s uneven play were signs that he’s still figuring out the pg posiiton, but he’s improved a lot since last year. This team is on the right track. 3-21 night by Durant and you would think they lost by 50. 0-8 from 3 by Durant and you would think they lost by 50. HOWEVER, both games were within reach and it shows great improvement by the entire team.

KD should have attacked the basket. He’ll learn from it and be much better next time. I think artest was in his head at that point.

Thabo played some great defense but I’m scared of what happens next time the Thunder meet the Lakers. Kobe isn’t going to have the flu next time and he will remember that Thabo got him a few times down the stretch. I wouldn’t be surprised if he dropped 40 on the Thunder next time.

those in the know

Well bud, it seems as if after that game there are now alot of people that are “in the know”
haha i have to admit, i knew that we would improve in alot of areas and in the win column is one of them, but i had no idea they would be this good!!!!!
i seriously think this thunder team can contend with a playoff bound team for a spot! and its exciting to have your expectations blown away (in a good way)
