Gred Oden Sick of Kevin Durant Talk, 2000 Fans Attend Thunder Practice, and Your Chance To Be A Tulsa 66er

Loudlinksnews_medium
Today's edition of Loud Links is a special one because it comes as the Thunder prepare for their first game of the 2009-10 season later on tonight . They will be making their pre-season debut against the Memphis Grizzlies (Check back for preview at 9am CST), who lost last night to the Washington Wizards. So although we've included a link to cover that, that's not the point of this post, so lets move onward to today's Edition of Loud Links.

In today's edition of Loud Links Greg Oden is becoming sick of "Durant Talk" and why shouldn't he be? Its not easy to be the guy picked before Michael Jordan now is it? Did I just compare Durant to Michael Jordan? Nah, but Durant is clearly going to be one of this leagues best players for many years to come. Speaking of Durant, he posted a link to an article on his facebook page earlier which featured himself along with Russell Westbrook and Jeff Green regarding their return to college this summer. Oh, and speaking of Kevin Durant again, he's also saying and doing all the right things according to Darnell Mayberry, and pretty much everyone else on the planet. 2000 fans attended the Thunder practice at Mid-West City last night, not too shabby at all, I mean how many more people could have crammed in there really? Head Coach Scott Brooks heaps some praise on raw but talented Serge Ibaka and says he's improving every day, which is actually a pretty scary thought. Oh and if all that's not enough and you think you've got what it takes, you can attend an open tryout to be a member of the Tulsa 66ers this coming Saturday. Make the jump, check out the links, and we'll see you in a few hours for a Gameday Preview and later tonight for a Live Commenting OPEN THREAD.

Arenas has 10 assists as Wizards beat Grizzlies (Tonights Opponent...Preview Coming at 9am CST)
Gilbert Arenas had 10 assists in 24 minutes, and the Washington Wizards beat the Memphis Grizzlies 101-92 on Tuesday night in the preseason opener for both teams.

Oden Tired Of Durant Talk
Perhaps it's because the Portland Trail Blazers once drafted Sam Bowie over Michael Jordan. Perhaps it's because Kevin Durant, whom the Blazers passed up to take Greg Oden, is having hands-down the better career so far. Perhaps it's the injuries that have plagued Oden throughout his college and pro career. Whatever the case, Blazers center Greg Oden is already tired of hearing about how he was taken over Durant in the draft two seasons ago.

N.B.A. Players Return to Where They Once Hastened to Leave - College
"The teacher just called my name out: ‘Hey, Mr. Westbrook. Nice to see you. Nice for you to show up,’ " Westbrook said. "I had to walk all the way to the front and sit on the stage in front of the whole class the whole time. For two hours. I couldn’t go to sleep, couldn’t do nothing. For two hours."

Kevin Durant Saying (And Doing) All The Right Things
Twenty minutes later, he walked over to a group of media members before he could catch his breath. That’s when he followed up on his actions by saying all the right things. He sounded like a veteran, confident, poised, focused and prepared to embark on his third NBA season. At one point he even stopped and chuckled when he caught himself referring to rookie big men Serge Ibaka and Byron Mullens, both one year younger than he, as "The young guys."

2,000 fans attend practice in Midwest City
"I thought our guys did a great job," said coach Scott Brooks. "We wanted to get something out of this practice. They competed, got some defensive work in, got some shots in and did a pretty good job in the scrimmage."

Scott Brooks says Serge Ibaka is a talented player who is improving every day
"Raw players can’t run, can’t jump and can’t shoot," Brooks said. "They’re just tall and have potential. I’ve been cut because we’ve had raw players on the team that they were trying to develop. Serge is a talented guy that brings it. And he plays with a lot of effort.
