Around SBN: Will Rhymes 'Fine' After Being Hit By Pitch And Fainting

What If

Don't you ever wonder why the Thunder didn't try to get big Paul Millsap. I am not even a fan of the Thunder but I like thinking as if I were general manager. The descisons all that, but this is not about me its the blog. Millsap would have made this team, he is what the need. He can block, rebound and score. He is a cheaper younger Boozer. He is not even  in his prime, and he would be a special player. If they had him, they would be tough to beat and have an even stronger bench and not have to worry about overplaying Green, and forcing him into what he really will never be. They would have a great lineup, pretty good bench, just missing a vet, and be in the playoffs for sure if everyone played as good as last year or a little worse and more likely a little better.

Look at this lteam that could have been and tell me you are ok with letting him go.

pg Russel Westbrook

sg Kevin Durant

sf Jeff Green

pf Paul Millsap

C Nick Collison

sixth man: James Harden

Role players

: Nenad Kristic

: Thabo Thefalosha

: Shaun Livingston

: Etan Thomas

:  Kyle Weaver

:  DJ  White

Bench warmers

: Michael Ruffin

: Ryan Bowen

: Kevin Ollie

Thats a deep team that could go far with the add of one guy.

The team would be better scoring have a big who can actually consistently produce.

It would be a better rebounding team with Green, Durant, Millsap, Westbrook, and Collison at the same time

thats more than a night 30 boards in just the starting lineup

6-7 Green, Durant 6, Millsap, 8-9, Westbrook 5, Collison 9-10.

They would also be able to play 4 big forwards at the same time causing a lot of mismatchs to mess with

You could win a lot of games with this young, deep team, and imagine if you had these guys together when they were 2 or 3 years old, wiser, and more experienced. That would be lethal to have.

Westbrook, Durant, Green, Harden imagine how good they could have been. I don't know why you they never tried to get  him he would make them a great team, a contender in 2-3 years maybe if things panned out.

You would have scoring, rebounding, size, and youth, and ok defense if Millsap was on board I would love to watch a team like that.

Aren't those qualities you would want in a team.  Russel would develop into a leader and better passer as time passed and you could have a ton of possibilities, but now you have just what could have been.

The potential this team could have had if they signed Millsap is off the charts.

They wouldhave a great young nucleus for years to come that would only get better

An athletic pointguard

a superstar shooting guard

a big multitalentalented forward who could play better, rebound better, score better, defend better without being forced to guard 4s when he is a three.

a great power forward, defender, rebounder, inside scorer who when he reaches his potential or in  a couple years will be a total beast

a sixth man who could be a futuresixth man of the year with his ball handling skills energy, quickness, and  shooting

If only

I'll have to agree

We got potential, but clearly we need a big denfensive threat. if we want to win more then
33 games this year, and yes i was praying that millsap would come here. not only do we
need a millsap, we also need some one to make 3pt shots.

The only problem

with this scenario is that KD didn’t seem to play as well at the 2 spot.

Eventually, Uncle Jeff will come off the bench or get traded.

I think that if KD were to play the 2 he could play kinda like Tmac played when he was good take a few 3s a game, use his size to shoot over smaller guards, and use his strength to overpower smaller guards and take them to the hull.
I thought you know that coach would make some mismatches and the team could capitalize on Durant’s versatility and use it against smaller teams.
they would be a really good rebounding team with Durant and Green using their height and athletism to assist Millsap and Collison in getting the rebound.
That could dramatically help their offense they could run and gun without having to go small I think that is really unique and teams would be hard pressed to stop that type of offense. They also wouldn’t really have to sacrifice on D.
One thing they could do would be keep Collison and Millsap back and have Westbrook Green and Durant do a triangle fast break that would be hard to stop with Westbrooks athletism, Durants skills and Greens size and ability to make skills.
Even if Durant doesn’t play as well at the 2, hhe would still find ways to score, and the team would be a lot better all around. So just the one drop off is worth it seeing as how much better that would make them.

Alright

First , I know I’m the minority here but o really think millsap was a product of his system. Nothing wrong with that I just never saw his production being duplicated in another system. Slone is a great coach and he knows what he is doing with a decent PF and fast PG.
Second, you make a good point KD could move to the 2 , but he shouldn’t! Let the kid stay in one position and maybe a few mins (10-15) at the two. He can’t improve on defense by switching up player types all the time. I do agree heshould be holding the ball more in a larger point forward type role…
Third, Uncle Jeff is pretty nice at the four IMO! He will improve more …. People forget he has only played a promminet(sp) role at the PF spot for a season and a half… I plan on seeing a larger amount of rbs from him this year …. Right around 8-9 a game…
Fourth, I know we need a big defender down low but adding a PF won’t work when our centers are so damn weak…. So for now we should stay put and look for that great trade before the deadline…. Camby ne one??

How the hell did that happen? I am Trailblazer fan to the core but I love me some OKC THunder!!! Must be the Hometown pride I feel.

I'll Say it now so you guys can know I'm a true follower: "In Pioli I Trust"
